Question about HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have a paper feeder error when I'm trying to fax on a HP L 7780 all in one printer. The paper (to be transmitted) first starts to feed then gets jammed on one side, the page gets crumpled and doesn't continue feeding.

Hello there, sorry about the woes you are having with your printer. This is a fairly common problem, so I believe we can get it fixed together! =) First off you will want to clean the ADF (automatic document feeder).

The best way for me to describe this is to give you this link to the support document on the device:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00863866.pdf

Go to page 154 in the document, it has step by step instructions with pictures even. It is very tough to describe this without the use of pictures.

If after this procedure you are still getting jams make sure the pages are "fanned out" prior to inserting them. Basically flip through the pages, bend it a little the middle, basically make sure the pages aren't trying to stick together, this causes this problem in many cases. If it tries to grab two pages at once it can easily jam, causing it to force against one side and crumpling the top page.

Also you can glance at page 165 of the document I sent for some other tips on paper feed issues, however I don't believe any of those are related to your device.

Between the two main suggestions I gave you, starting with cleaning the ADF, you should be able to get it fixed!

Hope this helps, thanks so much,
Tim

The rollers on the feeder can go bad and the best way to solve it is to get a new complete assembly. Check the website under your make and model for the assembly. YOu might also want to check for paper jam

Top feeder not feeding paper through

I have had this problem before and found that certain types of papers cause this. Can you try some different paper you may have lying around and try that? Post back with the results.

HP office jet feeder won't work when trying to fax

the little pieces of plastic are the sensor flags which is why it will not feed, those are required to let the machine know that the paper is present in the feeder. No flag no feed. Look at the plastic thing try to figure out where it goes in the feeder if you look close, you will see a spot where they go.

HP 7410 Paper Feeds in Crooked

The paper size in the feeder and the paper size in your printing properties have to match.
I.e. if your printing format says "letter size" and in your feeder is legal or A4 paper you will get this error.

Please reply if this does not help.

Paper will not feed into officejet 4215 to fax or copy, it stalls in the feeder.

Sometimes the feed rollers can get dusty or acquire other deposits on them that can cause a loss of friction, resulting in feed problems. You could try cleaning them to see if it would help. Here's the instructions:

Cleaning the Rollers

Post back your results and good luck.

Document feeder jam?

So when you copy via docfeeder, everything comes out fine?

Look around where the paper exits the docfeeder...there should be some kind of black plastic flapping piece...the paper pushes it up as it goes through the machine.  If this is stuck up, the docfeeder might think that the paper is stuck inside the feeder.

Auto-Feeder Does not feed paper evenly

There must be a small jam in the feeder. You can try sliding a business card or heavier plastic card through the feeder all the way across. Chances are it will push whatever is stuck in there out.
