Power button won't stay locked when pushed on. If held in with a screwdriver then the tv will power up ok. Could it be the spring on the switch?

  • Hi I am Vortash yes it sounds as if the switch has broken and it is a common fault with many sets , one simple way of fixing it is to hard wire across the switch and turn the set on from the outlet socket .. ( be careful that you dont cross connect the switch if you hardwire it , as this would result in a direct short and blow your fuses in your home as well as being unsafe ) another solution if the original component is not available is to use another switch an attatch it to the back of the set for opperation .
What usually happens is the plastic clips that lock into the retaining slots in the switch break off giving it nothing to hold on with .. I have also used superglue on the switch as a temporary repair until a new switch can be obtained that works quite well .. but my advice is to use the manufactures original if you can obtain it .. and of course any attempted repair should be with the wall socket detatached sounds obvious I know but you would be surprised ?. hope this helps regards Vortash

The spring is okay if the switch is coming back to the normal (Off) position by itself. It seems that the lock which hods the spring in position is broken or has worn out. In most of the cases the lock is not repairable and you will need to change the switch itself.

The power button is gone so there is no way to turn it on. is there anyway i can turn it on with the button?

You could try using a small screwdriver pushing straight in thru the hole where the power button was. If that doesn't work, put screwdriver in hole then push down on it. The switch inside the TV could be just inside the hole or up to an inch or so inside. To prevent electric short, wrap tape around screwdriver.
If that doesn't work, unplug the TV and take the back off, slide the circuit board out far enough to see how the power switch works then go from there. The actual switch is soldered to the circuit board. The power button is only a piece of plastic that actuates the switch.

How to replace on/off power switch on TEAC CT-M343 TV

the switches have a small spring that helps click the button to stay on or off its common for the spring to snap if you have another switch just pull it appart and replace as you undo it of not you can jam the switch on with a slide of paper or match stick then turn on off at wall or put a lighting switch in line with the power cord such as from a lamp

Passenger power window will not go up from drivers side

Hi, what you need to do is replace the switch on the drivers side this is a common problem and replacing this switch will solve your problem.
The switch should just pop out if you use a screwdriver as they are just pushed in but buying the new one will give you some idea of exactly how they are held in.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Make sure you have it connected to a power source properly. Push and release the power switch. (it is spring loaded) Don't push it to the lock position for now.

Bosch SHU43 / Siemens Dishwasher door not locking

I replaced the top cover, that required removing the door screws to get access to the front of the door to remove the 4 top cover retaining screws. After replacing all this, the door latch was in teh locked position not allowing the door to close. How do you physically re-set the lock, I tried to push it with no luck!
