How do I remove the battery door from my ixus 75? I need to replace it as it slides open and powers off the camera - the tiny catch near the hinge point has snapped off somehow. I can get a new door from Canon for about £15 +vat

Hi..
1. Turn your device off and remove the battery cover and battery

2. Remove the end-cover by pushing the cover away
3. Pull the bumper tabs up to separate the bumper from the device and remove bumpers
4. Snap new bumpers firmly into place
5. Re-attach the end-cover, re-insert the battery and re-attach battery cover..

How do I open the battery door for the Nike Coolpix L20 camera?

Slide the catch on the door toward the back of the camera and then, holding the catch in place, slide the door toward the right side (the near end) of the camera.

Battery door replacement

Does this mean you have a replacement door already?

If so, you will need to figure out how the camera comes apart. This is not always easy to do. I suspect there will be screws or snaps hidden. Improper dis-assembly will cause damage to the case and/or finish.

I would contact Canon and ask if there are any repair shops near you that they could recommend.

Canon G3 camera just stopped working completely

Do you have a way to test the battery and you know it's ok?

Those batteries have built-in protection circuitry that can cut out or turn off the battery entirely if it detected a problem like a short circuit, etc. And it may not get over it.

Try a 2nd battery or the AC power adapter directly.

Also check that the 3 little pins in the camera DC input jack are intact, straight, and not touching each other.

Some camera's won't turn on if the memory card door is open or the card is ejected but I tested that on my G3 and it still turns on either way.

Ah.... and lastly... there is a little electrical limit switch connected to the battery cover door that disables the camera if the battery door is open. It gets pressed by a small plastic piece attached to the battery cover when you close the battery door. If the plastic piece or the tiny, recessed switch has an issue then the camera won't turn on The switch could be bypassed internally (not easy to do) if that was the problem.

Look for a tiny, thin, black plastic switch about as thin as a staple down in a recessed hole (slot) near the battery cover hinge. Try gentle pushing the battery closed switch "over" a little. You can tell which way to push by observing how the battery door slides into position as you close it. I was able to turn on my camera with the door open by doing this.
The switch is very tiny, don't break it.

If the battery door isn't closing all the way that would also cause the same issue.

Screen says card locked. how to unlock? Canon ixus 75

Remove the SD card from the camera. Slide the tiny switch on the side of the card to its other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card in the camera.

But if you have already tried this, see this link for additional things that you can try.

Remove the card, and look for a tiny slide switch on the side of the card. Slide this switch to the other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card and try it out.

I have a Fuji FinePix S5000 and the battery door catches (on the body of the camera) have broken off. Replace complete body assy??? I am sure mine is not the only one. any help appreciated.

I had this problem also (see below).

After getting poor results with the duct tape solution, I discovered another work-around. This should work whether it is chipped lugs on the door or on the body.

Firstly I used an old camera flash bracket that screws into the tripod socket, and this holds the battery door in place quite securely. However it was too long, so I cut and filed a piece of aluminium 25mm (1") wide by 2.5mm thick to the right length (around 100mm/4") and shape, and made a hole for the bracket screw.

End result is not exactly like new, but more functional than the duct tape and does not further damage the actual camera:

Canon A75 Battery door

Never did it on an S1, but on other models it required removing the back face of the camera to access the battery doory hinge pin.

Examine your camera, and if this sounds feasible, remove all screws along the perimeter of the camera (keeping track of their sizes and where they came from, write it down with a crude drawing of their locations/sizes). Also look for screws in the battery compartment, and any visible screws behind flaps/doors. Once all perimeter screws are removed, you should be able to remove the back face of the camera by prying it open from the bottom. Once opened, the pin holding the battery door should be able to be slid out, enabling removal of the old door. Then in reverse slide the pin into the new door, and reassemble the camera and its screws.

Canon ixus 75 digital camera reset?

The manual states that the battery door was opened during use. Close the battery door and turn it on and off. You may need to push it closed to make sure the battery connections are made.
