Question about Lowrance LMS-332C GPS Receiver
Had problem intermittently end of last year, now can't connect power without unit powering self on and rapidly cycling through brightness levels. I saw in another site for 337c's that the owner contacted Lowrance and had unit repaired. Lowrance reportedly said not to expose unit to high temps. Ok then how about some cooling fins? Or a warning somwhere in the front of the 200page manual?!? Trying to call Lowrance now and getting busy signal at 10AM Central time. Not exactly happy right now. Considering self repair since out of warranty antway.
I've repaird this by installing a secondary powerswitch and disconnecting the power switch on the keypad. It's an involved repair but it can be done.

This is a definite malfunction in the keypad and it will need to be replaced/repaired. If you can't get a hold of Lowrance support by phone, try emailing them at http://www.lowrance.com/en/Support/Product-Support/Contact/.
The repair charges for an LMS-332 out of warranty right now is like $199.95...so you might want to look into just putting that money into a new upgraded model like the HDS-5.

Self fix won't work. Display heads are sealed with nitrogen from factory to prevent moisture from developing in unit. Local electronics firms may open it up and fix it BUT they cannot re-seal with nitrogen.
Before going that route - stick with trying to get a Lowrance factory repair - if they are still supporting that unit. My LCX -15MT died and they no longer supported it. Took it to local marine electronics tech shop and they couldn't fix it even after opening it up. I would have been OK and let it run until it died without "nitrogen" if they could have fixed it - but no luck.
