Question about Admiral AW22 Top Load Washer
I just replaced old shut off valves and hoses. The prior hot water valve was broken and mostly corroded shut, reducing the hot water flow to a small stream. It made sense to replace both cold and hot valves along with the hoses and get a fresh start. Now on the warm setting I get a full stream of hot water, and on the cold and hot settings barely a trickle going into the washer tub. The model number is LATA200AAE.

These are plastic and will need to be replaced with new.
Once you have sourced new hinges then the machine top needs to be opened,
Electrically Isolate the machine, then at the joint between the machine front panel and top insert a flat blade 4" from each side to release the lid catches, tilt back the top to access the screws on the hinges and replace with new.

Check the hose at the end where it connects to the washer (the inlet valve unit). There may be a screen there also that needs to be replaced or cleaned. If not then the hot water solenoid valve is probably gunked up with the same type of stuff you found in the filter screen. You may be able to clean it enough to get it to work but replacing it is just as easy and not very expensive. (Even cheaper see if you can salvage one from an old machine at the dump or that someone has left at the curb--the units are very standard across many manufacturers in the tU.S.) Both the hot and cold water valves are in the same unit.

Testimonial: "The hot water solenoid valve was the precise problem! Thank you. I told my handy man what the fix likely was and he repaired it for $92. "
