Usually, it turns off automatically after you close de lid , it´s a switch that works with the open/close movement of the lid. Sometimes it can be clogged with some dirt and not work properly, check first if it turns off after closing de lid all the way, also check when the vehicle is closed by the key if it´s still on.

Hatch won't open on Ford Escape. I can hear the mechanism engage but the door won't budge.

Is there a lot of things inside the hatch area? A belonging may be trapped in the lock mechanism or whether stripping near the latch. You may want to ask another person for help. You push inward onto the hatch, close to the latch. Have your helper activate the unlock mechanism and then you try to open the hatch. This may take a few tries, be patient. If this fails to work. The cargo area will need to be emptied, the interior trim on the hatch removed and you or the shop will need to manually actuate the latch until it releases the hatch. Either a component has hailed of its the result of human error. Please write back if there is anything else. Good Luck.

I got in my 2010Sante Fe, 6 cylinder this am and there was no power at all ,no lights and I had unlock with the key. There was no power at all and nothing when I turned the key

You likely left an interior light on and with everything else it drained the battery. Charge the battery, get the car going, and then take it to a battery shop to check if the battery is still ok. The interior lights, especially the light in the cargo area, are very easy to inadvertently trip the switch on. For example, removing or putting cargo in the rear hatch. Also, I have installed a battery charger at my battery so I can plug it in to maintain a charge, as these cars use energy when idle for various functions (theft monitor) that deplete the battery if it is not driven frequently.

1998 Forester cargo light won't go off

Yes these are the switches. It sounds like they have gone bad or the wires to them have gone bad. Your best bet is to try and find the other side of the switches on the interior of the car and see if anything looks bad. I dont believe there is a fuse but it is worth looking to make sure.

I cant find the fuel filter on my 03 Santa fe. Dealer said its on the fuel pump, where is the fuel pump located.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. Look under the carpeting in the back of the truck for an access hatch, either in the cargo area or under the rear seat. If you don't see one, you'll have to drop the tank down off the bottom of the car.
