F11 is a code that referes to communication error between the central control unit and the motor control unit. Disconnect power. Check wire harness connections to motor and control board. Check drive belt, visually inspect to see if belt is broke. Check drive motor, visually confirm motor operation. It is possible that if the belt broke it may have slung around in the cabinet and damaged or loosened the wire harness connection at the motor. Try unplugging wire harness at motor and then plug it back in securely. Hope this info has helped. Thanks, Tim.

The symptoms are pretty specific for the F11 code on the Whirlpool Duet front loaders and clones (Kenmore Elite and KitchenAid):

If the washer starts to fill but the drum NEVER moves, your MCU is bad

If the washer runs through most of a cycle and then gives the F11 before (or during) a rinse or spin cycle, then you have the CCU relay problem.

If you are interested in having me repair your CCU for you, I offer that service on eBay (website coming soon). My username there is "jhagner"

Thanks

Flashing F 11, drum spins by hand.unplugged for 30 sec and plugged back in started to fill then stopped .flashed F11 again

The F11 error can be difficult to resolve even for us technician's.

The F11 error occurs when the central control and motor control don't talk to each other.

If one of the controls was actually bad then I'd expect to see the error code every cycle. If it does, start by checking all the wiring connections from the panel to the CCU. Post back your results.

My front loader wirlpool washer is having problems it starts out fine then it flashes a F- symbol. And does not finish spin cycle. Why? And what does that. Mean?

Hi,

The F is showing up saying there is a fault somewhere. Since you don't say what comes after the F code (F11, FdL, Etc) it's hard to say what the problem is. If you remove the lower panel below the door (3 screws at bottom of machine) ther should be a packet taped to the inside of the machine. This is the repair guide for the machine and it says what the different codes mean. Good luck.

Error code F11 washer stops mid-cycle

Hi,

The F11 code means that communication between the CCU circuit board at the top of the machine and the motor control circuit board at the bottom of the machine has been lost. The problem most often found is cold solder joints on the CCU board that make and break causing the F11 code and sometimes an FdL code. To fix this you need to remove the CCU circuit board at the top of the machine and have the larger solder points of the relays and the spade connectors resoldered. If your not to handy with soldering you could just print out this response and a good appliance repair shop should be able to help you out. Good Luck.

Hi,
The following list of codes indicates an electronics communication problem with the washer:

Duet HT® washer - F01, F03, F06, F11, F23, F24, F27, F28, F29, F30, F31, F32, F35, F42, F61, F62, F63, F64, F65, F70, F71, and F99

Duet SportTM washer - F01, F11, F23, F24, F27, F28, F29, F30, F31, and F33
PLACEHOLDER FOR ART
To remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice.
If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug washer or disconnect power for one minute.
  2. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, then call for service.

Take care

F 11 fault code

F11 is a serial communication error. Information between the central control and the motor control cannot be sent correctly. C01 through C08 is just the test sequence: 01=fill by cold water, 02= dispensor motor, 03=fill by hot water, 04=drum rotates clockwise, 05=heater on, drum rotates, 06=drain pump actuated, 07= drum rotates counter clockwise, 08= high spin. You are recieving a fault before the test can complete.

Here is a posting of some one who had the same problem:

I have - since posting the original - tried to remove the serial cable connectors from both ends of the cable2.gif and soldering the wire right to the PC boards. It seemed to help, but the F11 returned. I think the temporary help had to do with powering down and up. In fact, I found that if I powered down and let the machine "rest" I could get at least one load out before F11 came back.

I finally bit the bullet and bought a new MCU at around $200. I have a family of 6 and a malfunctioning washer just isn't an option. I replaced it in mid January and haven't had the dreaded F11 since.

I did notice that on the MCU (that I removed) there is a small transformer that must be for the DC power supply to the board. I bet this powers the low voltage inputs/outputs as well as the processor (via some additional regulation). This transformer looked like it has been getting hot. The iron laminations and dielectric of the windings was irregularly blackened in places.

I further speculate that as the transformer gets hot, it starts to sag the DC Voltage of the MCU. The lower DC voltage could cause faults in the processor1.gif, faults in the serial comms, any number od problems.

Unfortunately, I feel the ultimate resolution to the problem is to replace the MCU. I do believe that the anti-vibration techniques listed in this thread would be good preventive measures. Vibration is no friend to electronic4.gif components hanging on by solder - especially relatively heavy objects like transformers and bigger capacitors.

Kenmore elite 44832 front load washer troubleshooting F11 c01 c02

Was there ever a post back for this problem? I have the same issue, and I tried replacing the central control board, but it is still giving the F11 error. I follow the troubleshooting guidelines, but it never makes it past C01. I suppose the next logical step is to look at the motor control board and then the motor.
