I am using the seagate external memory with my dish reciver to back up movies I have recorded was going to add some more but I get an error message saying there is a problem with the transfer also all of...

I would have to assume that a "Seagate external memory" is actually a Hard Drive. If so then you need to note what sort of Port or interface connection it is using. USB / Firewire or a direct connection cable of some sort. Note also the size (capacity) of the drive. You have probably loaded it up so full that it can't function.
The ideal situation would be to connect this drive to a computer and try and recover your files. You need to know what the drive was formatted for. Check the manual. Was it Fat32, NTFS, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) etc or some proprietary receiver format.
Does the dish receiver have the format (erase) utility on board. If the PC or Mac can see the drive on a USB port then you may be able to recover your movies.
If not... You can always format the drive or completely erase all data and set it up for use again. Or you can replace the drive with any number of different brands of drive, maybe even with larger capacity.
Most drives all use ATA or the newer SATA type connector internally. They are all interchangeable. So WD (WesternDigital) Hitachi, Seagate, etc will all work the same way. (All of them have to be able to plug in to different brands of computers. Mac or PC.
Without further info, it's hard to suggest anything else.
Good Luck

How connect ext mass storage Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Net to LAN through router by TCP/IP

Here is the link to the pdf for your Go flex.

This is an excerpt from the file concerning NOT using the pogoplug...

Accessing GoFlex Net Without Using the Pogoplug Service (Windows)
You can access the drives connected to GoFlex Net without using the Pogoplug Web
interface. Follow these steps to set up local network access.
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Network or right-click My Network Places >
An Explorer window opens showing all computers on your network.
2. Locate and then double-click the computer name associated with GoFlex Net.
NOTE: Your GoFlex Net name starts with the letters "FADS" followed by the last six
alphanumeric characters of its MAC address. This 12 digit address, preceded by "MAC:",
is printed on the label on the bottom of GoFlex Net.
You can now access each drive connected to GoFlex Net. Access is regulated by the file
sharing permissions you set using the Pogoplug service.

Hope this helps...

My computer does not see my external hard dive

Go to this webpage (Seagate) and choose from the SeaTools and FreeAgent Drivers that are appropriate for your OS and particular model. Formatting the harddrive should not have caused this problem of not being connected, but it is possible there was a piece of software that communicated with the computer that was removed via the format.
