If your Kenmore is an older mechanical machine, it most likely needs a good oiling. Consult your owner's manual maintenance section for instructions. Use only fresh, good quality sewing machine oil. Apply only one or two drops each place in the instructions. Do NOT oil plastic or rubber parts/belts.

Hello Shirlene, If your Kenmore machine has two drive belts, a belt from the motor to an idler pulley and a belt from the idler pulley to the main shaft. I have found that the idler pulley needs some Teflon grease on the idler pulley shaft. On my machine, the squeak would go away for a while if I oiled this idler pulley shaft. But it was short lived. Only grease on the idler pulley shaft would silence the squeak.

Bernini 1130 squeak at flywheel

Clean and oil your machine: Dirt and dust can accumulate in the machine and cause it to squeak. Try cleaning and oiling your machine as per the manual instructions .

Check the feed dogs and pressure foot: The squeak might be due to the interaction between the foot and the feed dogs. Try removing the foot and lowering the feed dogs to see if the squeak persists .

Check for worn-out parts: The 1130's originally had a crank made from aluminum, which could wear out over time. You can check if this is the case by opening up your machine and inspecting the crank.

If unresolved, the next step would be to contact professional repair. These machines are known to have an issue with squeaking. Odd machine squeak sewing discussion topic @ PatternReview.com

Why does my sewing machine keep squeaking? I've put oil on top and bottom and cleaned it and still it keeps on squeaking!!!

It most likely needs something to be tightened, so I would go all around the machine and make sure everything is tightened as so.

Machine squeaks when sewing

Is it a mechanical machine (NOT computerized)?

Do this ONLY if it is MECHANICAL. Remove the top lid and the freearm cover (if no free arm, then you'll have to tilt the machine so you can access the lower mechanism).

Use ONLY fresh good quality sewing machine oil. While handrotating the handwheel, watch where metal parts move against other metal parts and apply 1-2 drops of oil. Do NOT oil plastic, rubber, or leather parts as oil will eventually destroy them.

Be sure to oil the moving parts in the lower mechanism as well. Hopefully this will take care of the squeak and get your machine operating 100% again.

White model 534 serger

Your serger most likely need to be oiled. It is important that you keep your serger clean and oiled. More so than your sewing machine. If this is a new squeak, you can try to oil the area that it is coming from yourself if you can get access to it. If it is not a new squeak it is possibly coming from the motor or the belt and then I wouldn't suggest to oil those parts. If you can't get to where the squeak is at bring it to a repair person and they should be able to take care of it.

It squeaks when u sew. i need to know where to oil it at

Squeaking or popping sounds could be a blunt needle so make sure you change it regularly, 4-6 hours sewing time is rule of thumb.

To find where to oil this machine download the manual from http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html, just type in your model number into the search field and click 'Search', most of the manuals are there as a downloadable pdf file.

The manual will show oiling points for your machine. Use sewing machine (clear) oil only, a little drop only but oil and clean regularly to get the best performance. Brush out any lint and dust first (don't use compressed air to blow a machine out, much better to brush out carefully with a little brush and remove the lint from the machine).

You can also put a drop of oil onto a piece of waste fabric then rub this up and down the needle bar (the metal part that goes up and down holding the needle) to keep this clean and lubricated.

My Kenmore 12493 is making a loud squeaking noise. I have oiled the machine as per the manuals instructions...I can not figure out where the squeaking is coming from.

Hi
If you are good with machines you need to take off the bottom cover and oil all of the drive. The motor may all so need to be oiled.
Good luck

Hand wheel on Kenmore model 1345 sewing machine tight and now squeaking when sewing. What should I do

Take the bobbin and bobbin case out first of all and check for any minute pieces of thread stuck, lightly poil with WD40, find out where the squeak is, very important otherwise the machine may seize and it will cost a lot of money, oil all moving parts lightly

Squealing noise Husquvarna 3310 sewing machine. Still sews ok but noise must be harming the machine. Anyone know what I can check?

My Designer 1 started squeaking recently and, like you, I was concerned even though it sewed like usual. I emailed my tech. and he suggested either feed lifter mechanism or feed cam were the most likely causes - simple to repair but I would need to bring machine in for him to hear because there could be other reasons for the squeak. Well I did not have time to go then and there. Next day when I sewed, the squeak was gone!
At the time it squeaked I was sewing through several fairly thick layers (making a pot holder) and sewing very slowly. The next day I sewed normal cloth at normal speed but no matter how slowly I sewed, I could not get it to squeak. I will get it checked eventually but as long as it is squeak-less I'm not going to be concerned.
If yours squeaks all the time no matter what you are sewing then, yes, I think you should get it looked at. Be sure that nothing is rubbing against the body of the machine i.e. accessory tray and making the noise.
