When I turn the dial on my dryer to preset drying time and pushed the button the dryer started and ran but after a half hour it was still at the same location as I had put it and the clothes were stil

Sounds like the dryer fuse-able link has opened. If this happens the timer will not advance and the heater will not go on. Check the schematic of the dryer to see where it is located. When located check the continuity, if open, that is your problem. They are located in places that are not easily accessible (usually).

Try unplugging the unit for an hour and replugging it back in. If that doesn't work go to http://fisherpaykelparts.net/techhelp/fisher-paykel-top-load-dryers-us-models/ This forum may help you through your problem. Passed that while you were gone you could of had a power surge that burned the electronic out. If that's the case time your can replace some of the electronics.

Dryer won't start.

Would first check the Breaker panel Breaker and see if it is tripped. Try resetting, if it trips out immediately would call an electrician.
