How can tell if the ink level is low? hp 2420

Cartridge comes along with memory, the information of estimated ink/toner levels will stored in this memory(Depends upon the cartridge model yield will varies). When printer performs the printing, memory count will comes down, when its reaches the minimum count printer will display the message of "low ink/toner/remain pages" levels, once its reaches to '0', display will changes like "replace the cartridge"...But there is no electronic component or mechanism to measure the ink/toner levels in the cartridges.Only estimated levels only printer can recognizes.. Take usage page through menu, you will get the information that usage % & printed pages info, you can judge how much remain it can print...

Error low toner canon mf5870 nd

> low toner

It means that the toner-cartridge, which holds the dry toner-ink, is nearly empty.

Remove the toner-cartridge, and gently roll it from side-to-side -- DO NOT SHAKE IT.

Replace it, and use it, until it's completely empty. Then, buy a new toner-cartridge.

2.Press MENU, and ENTER. The machine should display TECH Mode.
3.Press the left arrow < once. The machine will show NEW CARTRIDGE.
4.Press ENTER, the machine will show YES.
5.Press ENTER, there should not be any Toner Low/Empty message.
6.Exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine will no longer display TECH.
If Toner Low/Empty message continues, there may be a problem with the toner cartridge or the machine.

What to do when toner is low

Remove the toner cartridge.
Gently "roll" it from side-to-side, to evenly distribute the toner. Do not "shake" it.

Eventually, you'll either need to buy a new toner-cartridge (either from Dell or via eBay) or find a store that refills ink-jet and ink-toner cartridges.

I have just bought for the 1st time ink cartridge refill kit for lexmark x5470 i cannot get the low ink level to change to full please help

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Toner low

There is no Toner with this printer.

It uses Ink Cartridges. (It may say toner as that what most people
say ink is these days) - correct me if I am wrong!

The different ink colours are seperate, so you only replace the one which is low. Print heads need to be changed after changing the ink 2-3 times but it does not say that anywhere (I think they would recommend changing it all the time but that makes this v.expensive running costs which beats the object of this printer)

Yes I do have one, so I know what I am talking about.

Just a shame as my experience has led me to believe that this drains the ink as it calibrates every time you turn it on! (Paid £400 for this when it first came in the UK)

I do not leave it on standby and ink lasts me max a month and I only use about 100 ~ 150 pages (**** really) hence why use a laser for B/W and this for every thing else.

Plus any one know where you can refill this cartridge using standard ink?

You will need to manually reset the toner cartridge.
If the Toner Low or Toner Empty message does not automatically clear after a new cartridge is installed, do the following to clear the message manually:
  1. Press MENU # 1 9 3 4 in sequence rapidly. The LCD panel should now display TECH.
  2. Press MENU, and then press ENTER. The LCD panel will display Tech Mode.
  3. Press the left arrow (<) button once. The operator panel will display NEW CARTRIDGE.
  4. Press ENTER. The operator panel will display [YES].
  5. Press ENTER. The toner warning message should be gone.
  6. To exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4 in rapid succession, as if you were dialing a phone number. The operator panel should no longer display TECH.
  7. If problem persists, there may actually be a problem with either the toner cartridge or the SCX-4216F.

The only way to clear the message is to wait until the the display shows XXXX Toner Out, then change the cartridge and the message will clear itself.
