Hi I am Vortash The batteries may say that they are charged ( via an indicator on a charger ) however they may not some Ni Cad batteries that do not accept charge as they have passed the 1000 hour charge period .. give a positive charged indication as they are faulty .. try a set of new batteries either Alkali dry cell or new Ni cads and first eliminate the batteries as the fault .. if they are ok and the problem remains then you need to get the camera checked out as there are very few repairs a user can effect as all the components are micro miniature and surface mounted .. most places do a free estimate for repair and you can see if it is viable to repair or replace .. regards Vortash

Model PL81. Why does it zoom, beep, and shut down?

Are you positive that the battery is good? Turning on for a few seconds and then shutting down is a classic symptom of a battery that did not take a proper charge and as soon as the surface charge is used, unit will shut down. And what if your charger is not properly charging the battery?

If you have a battery eliminator try that in lieu of the battery to see what happens.

My camera will not turn on, it is fully charged. When I turn it on it goes to the main Kodak screen and then just shuts off. I have tried cleaning the battery, but nothing has worked.

There is a systems control board failure or the systems control has detected a problem in the camera. I know you have fully charged your batteries, but try regular batteries just to be sure, because as the rechargeable batteries degrade the systems controller will shut the camera down.

Olympus 7010 shuts down in picture mode - not a battery problem

I will tell you how I did it for the same price you were going to charge me for a solution. To ask how I did it once I found a solution without a fee goes against your business model.

My battery is fully charged, camera goes on and shuts off.

this generally happens if you have dropped it. when the message comes. try tapping the camera. if it works then you are lucky. if not then you have to change the lens array. it costs about 60$

Camera will not power up when opened.

Actually, it very well might be the battery. Batteries hold only so many re-charges before they become spent (shot, kaput). Try buying a new battery and see if this just doesn't fix your problem. My battery did same thing where it 'fully charged' and then as soon as I unplugged it, the cam had a nano of a second of operation before it seemingly went dead again. Needs a new battery.

Camera Shutting Down

Did this for the same problem on the PowerShot A570 IS and it worked wonderfully (thanks to other poster): For the PowerShot A 430: Take out the batteries, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds or more, then reinstall the batteries. Problem solved!

Replace battery sign in New canon A590si camera.

You're using the wrong batteries. You need to purchase lithium batteries. They are quality batteries for high powered, battery operated electronics. Personally, I have a battery charger and use rechargable duracell batteries. (HR6/ DC1500/ NiMH/ 1,2V) Gives you approximately 16 hrs before having to recharge.

High battery consume

Short in the camera so you do not get proper switch off even when you switch the camera off ( so it stays on all the time ). Or your charger is not fully charging your batteries which then go into your camera say half charged and dont last very long.
