Question about Garden

I need a v-belt that drives the snow blade.

Sears tells me it is about 1985. It is missing the v-belt that drives the snow blade. Sears said it is no longer available and cannot provide a crossover belt # to use. I have checked with a couple of repair shops and they didn't help either. craftsman 2 stage 22" model 536918200 code 9131

Your old belt number was 50272 which is replaced with PN 248037 and the price should be about $14 plus shipping if you get it on the web.
check your local repair shop if they have it first.

What is the number of the auger belt on a Craftsman snowblower model number 71-52408-4

Try to google or go directly to Sears online support. If your product is still being made, go to the new purchase page, see if the details tell you, if not, check out the reviews to see if anyone else knows or has asked for the part number.
Or just go to sears online support, it might tell you.

Tip- I got a washing machine replacement belt online at ebay for only a couple of bucks, while the company wanted like $30 or so for the same thing.

The snow blower stopped going forward and backwards. It is a sears Craftsman and has been working excellent. It just stopped.

The most common cause of this is the drive belt is worn. In other cases the cable from the hand lever to the belt drive breaks or comes off.
To look at the belts and inspect the operation of the cable you remove the cover (usually plastic) in the middle of the snow thrower.
Your operator's manual will show you how to remove the cover and check/change the belts. If you don't have a copy you can get the manual through managemyhome.com
You will need the model number off the snowblower. It is usually located on the bottom right hand corner of the frame (from the handle side). The model number looks like 247.123456.
The belt closest to the to the engine drives the transmission. This is the transmission drive belt. (Your operators manual will show you the location and how to remove the cover if you are unfamiliar with your snow blower)
With the engine not running, have someone depress the drive lever and check the belt. You should only be able to depress the long side 1/2 inch or less. More than that the belt has stretched and needs to be replaced.
On some older blowers you can adjust the tension pulley, but most made in the last 15 years, you can't. The belt may be frayed on the edges or glazed causing it to slip (it is shiny on the sides of the belt) It may be torn and broke completely.
You can get parts for you Craftsman and most MTD made models through searspartsdirect.com. With other makes you can get parts through jackssmallengines.com
If you are unfamiliar with repairing machines you can get your snow blower repaired by taking it to your local Sears. They will have a technician troubleshoot and repair the unit.

I have a Sears snow blower. It is not throwing even a light snow. On engaging auger both sides spin slowly. I observed one side of the auger stops spinning when proceeding into snow pile. What may be the...

many Sears/Craftsman snowblowers have a shear bolt on the auger shaft or one on each side. This bolt is designed to break under a specific amount of force to prevent damage to the gear box or drive assembly if the blades encounter an immovable object or something becomes jammed (even a newspaper buried in the snow can cause this). They likely broke at some point during use in the past and you did not realize this, or they were not properly installed when the blower was new. If you check the auger shaft and find one or 2 holes that look like something should be there, then you found the most likely problem. If you reply with the model I can tell you exactly where to look and the part # or if you realize the bolts are missing you can contact that parts dept at Sears with your model and they can provide replacement bolts. Can be a pain with small things but a lot less expensive than a new gearbox.

Mounting snow blade to lawn tractor

It attaches the the front of the tractor. Similar to a plow to a truck. If you don't have the brackets, you will need those, or make your own. You can see a picture of the brackets if you go to sears.com. Click on the PartsDirect link at the top, and enter the blade model number.
