PS3 Won't load any disk

My PS3 will not load any disks. Just makes a buzz sound. I held down the eject button for 30 seconds to "force eject" to see if that worked but it had no effect.

how do install the latest firmware?

  • mikeb44 Jul 13, 2009

I updated system software i.e. firmware restarted the system and it still is not loading the disk. I also shut the system off an additional time and waited 10 minutes and rebooted and the disk still will not load into the machine. I just get a buzz sound when trying to insert the disk.

If you do not hear spin up and just a buz sound this is not firmware and anyone who told you otherwise does not know whats going on, I am telling you if you replace this drive about $99 new you will be happy you did.

The servo motor has gone bad these cheap BD drives do not last long under heavy play and Sony new this that is why they offer you to pay to extend you warranty not only to make them a few bucks extra but to save you from this type of mechanical failure.

You can by a new BD drive on-line for cheaper then it will cost you to replace the system.

You also can find cheap solutions on-line as well as some of these have bad boards on the drive and replacing this will help as well.

First off, make sure you have the latest firmware installed. Second, fully power off your PS3. If you don't know how to do that, use the black switch on the back of the PS3. If you're still unsure, unplug it from the wall. Now, plug it back in/flip the power switch back on, and then press the I/O button on the front panel to power the PS3 up.
Try your disc access again.
I've had mine not read discs maybe twice in 9 months and both times that fixed the problem. Since the latest firmware updates I have had no problems at all.

PS3 won't accept certain disks. A few disks i have won't play in my ps3. it happens to both blu-ray movies and games, and it seems to only happen with blu ray disks. i'll put the disk in, and...

Hello
The noise is actually a product of dust from a blue ray disc.Over time these discs heat up and leave a residue on the blue ray lens.
Try using a lens cleaner to remove dirt and clean lens.
Also i read an article that using a wireless controler can also cause freezing of the blue ray.

Ps3 will not eject

The only way to force eject your ps3 disc is to hold down the eject button for up to 30 seconds.
You could try ejecting from within the PS3 menu,
You could try resetting your console by turning it off and then holding the power button down for 30 seconds.

Lots of PS3 owners have reported this issue, and the only common solution is to send it in to sony as your disc drive is broken.

I CAN'T GET THE DISK OUT OF THE MACHINE

Turn off the PS3 completely and unplug the power from the console. Leave the device unplugged for 30 seconds, and then plug the PS3 back in. Then, press the eject button on the front until the disk is ejected.

I placed disk in the consule now it want eject what should I do?

Hi,
Shut off the console with the switch at the back. Press down and hold both the ejection button and the on button. While keeping them held down turn the system back on, but keep the eject button and on button depressed. In a few seconds the console should sound like a vacuum cleaner and the disc should come out.

Good Luck and have a nice day

The drive is out of alignment. Sometimes this can be fixed by pressing and holding the eject button for about 30-60 seconds. You will see the blue light start blinking and hear the drive gears moving. If this does not resolve the issue the blu-ray drive will need to be disassembled and the gears will need to be realigned. This is a very difficult procedure, even more so then replacing the blu-ray laser lens.

My PS3 does not read the game when I put it in

Have you tried turning the system completely off using the switch at the back? If not, turn it off and wait for about 30 seconds before switching it back to the on position. It will provide the system with power and then you can turn the system back on using either the controller or the power button like normal. Also, go into your settings and turn off the disk auto-start. I'm not a mind ready, but it sounds like you turned on the machine and then tried to eject the disk as it was loading so you could play something else. To avoid this in the future, you can press the eject button and will power up the system and eject the disk at the same time without any risk. I hope this helps.

Ps3 problems

Make sure all disks are ejected first. Try holding down the power button on the front near where you put disks in. Keep it held down until it beeps a second time (5-10 seconds after the initial/first beep). Get updated to version 2.2 (came out last night). Good luck!!

CD stuck in ps3 horrible noise cant get out HELP!!!

I had the same symptoms. The reason to my problem was that my 2 year old has pushed *three* disks into the console. I got them out through the following, admittedly pretty weird, approach: I hit the eject button, while gently prodding with another disk into the slot (at a slight upward angle). I could feel the disks inside the console rotating or vibrating as I was *gently* touching them with the fourth disk and hitting eject repeatedly. Somehow, the gentle prodding made one of the disk come out a bit, so I could pull it out easily. (I was pretty surprised when a second disk came out, and then a third.)

Disk will not eject

Hi Odin247,

Press and hold the eject button for more than 10 seconds. Sony included a trick in the program to force eject. Hope this helps.
