You can verify the status of your network card on the Device Manager (Right-click My Computer then click Properties. Go to Hardware then Device Manager). On the Device Manager click on the plus (+) sign beside Network Adapter and then double-click on your network adapter. It will show the status if it the device is working properly or if there's an error. Post back for any error you may see.
