Question about TruTech T650-DR DVD Recorder

2 Answers

Pause Protected This is specifically for the TruTech T650-DR DVD Recorder: I have already recorded two VHS tapes onto DVD+Rs using this TruTech recorder.  This morning I have put in two different fresh DVD+R discs to record a movie from my VHS player.  I've gone through all the proper set-up procedures. However, when I hit Play on the VHS and Record on the DVD recorder, I get a box on the screen saying PAUSE PROTECTED, and I see that the recording has stopped at 0:01.   I have not touched anything that would activate a PAUSE PROTECTED mode, and I can't find anything in the Instruction Manual that tells me how to undo this problem.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Pause Protected

I believe your unit is objecting to the quality of input, but can't tell you if you can adjust the sensitivity for that unit. IOW your first two recordings worked because you were getting higher quality to the Recorder. Perhaps they were better quality tapes or perhaps you have since introduced a line problem (poor connection).

Re: Pause Protected

You might try unplugging the unit for several minutes in an attempt to reset the logics from ROM... TruTech is just one of those WallyWorld/Target specials that have very little support and breakdown frequently.. If I might suggest, it sounds as though you haven't had this unit long - take it back and get your money for it and go out and get a major player in the market. At least when it breaks you can more easily get some support...
A lot of these off-brands we get in here for repair just aren't worth the time and effort to repair and you would be surprised how many brands there are...

Can record on DVD disc will not play on DVD player

Make sure the materials you're trying to record onto the DVD
is not Copyrighted. Try to record a normal TV program onto your
VHS, transfer it to your DVD and then play it. See if that will
work. A VHS movie is usually Copyrighted and Protected by
Macrovision. The picture output can be displayed on a TV set
for viewing but is scrambled black to a DVD Recorder.

Searching online I found a web site that you may order a replacement remote, however this web site no longer carries the T650-DR remote but they do carry a substitute.

if the link does not work, go to and in the top left search for T650-DR to find the replacement. Hope this helps, post back.

There should be no problem with copying home recorded VHS tapes to DVD via the Scart or Video (yellow) output. It may be obvious but have you tried recording directly from other sources such as TV etc. Apologies if this is a trivial suggestion!

Set it for antenna and use the single channel it sends to your TV, which is the only signal coming out of your cable box
