    When it boots up it looks for sata hard drive then shuts down. I cannot get into Bios to change the setting. Mobo is Brand new. It seems like the mobo is set up to look for Sata HD by default and I cannot get into Bios to change it. Any Solution ?

Check for the BIOS battery voltage! it should be 3 volts. if not, replace it!

    check the voltage of the power supply it should be:
    red = 5V + -
    yellow = 12V +-
    black = negative

    if 12V has gone down to 10.X V and 5V has gone down too, then you should try replacing it also. You should also remove some PCI-cards like SND card just to detect which causes the problem. Try also a NEW memory and don't forget to clean the memory slot and the contact point of the memory.

Is the ms 6540 motherboard compatible with the asus p5s800-vm

what u mean compatible? if u mean u want to change your ms 6540 to Asus P5S800-VM, then i tell u it cannot be done.
first thing that u look when to change mainboard is SOCKET type... ms 6540 have socket type 478 and asus p5s800-vm have socket type LGA775. thats mean your old processor cannot be use in asus. socket 478 is older than LGA775.
So if u want to change your mainboard for ASUS P5S800-vm, then u need to change your processor to... about RAM socket and VGA socket, ms 6540 have same type with ASUS P5S800 (DDR400) so u dont need to change your RAM and VGA (if u use external VGA)
hope this useful, regards.

What mobo can replace ASUS P5PE-VM

the socket of you processor is lga775, the graphics port is agp and it support DDR I , so you need to buy a motherboard that has the exact specifications.
my advice is to continue with asus. you could buy an Asus P5P800/ P5S800 that is compatible with your previous motherboard. there are also some good models from asrock and they may be cheaper than asus.
the problem with this type of motherboard is that they are expensive because that are not in use.

I have an ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard socket LGA775

Hi,

To answer your question, yes it's possible.

I'm sure you wouldn't like it if I left it at that, so I'll explain a bit more.

It's about as simple as this: The processor you want to install into the motherboard is for an LGA 775 mobo such as yourself. Therefore, it should have no problems when you put it in.

Hope I was of assistance.

No any display in the monitor, no beep of the RAM while CPU fan is running

Check your power supply. It sounds like you have a bad power supply. Even though the computer powers up, it does not mean that it's good. I have had this problem before, and almost 9 out of 10 times the power supply had gone bad. Just try a different one and see. hope this helps you.

I looked up your P5S800-VM motherboard on the Asus site and it doesn?t list the Pentium D915 ?Presler? dual core processor on its list of supported CPSs. Here is the link to show to your sales rep: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5S800-VM

CPu fan turns for 1 second and then stops.

If all was working fine before, then, you have either not connected the cpu power cable, as is sometimes required other than being powered by the processor socket, or your power supply unit is not pentium 4 compatable and is unable to power the processor.
