How much oil do I need to put into an industrial Ovelocker Brother EF4 B531?

All industrial machines have a sight glass to determine oil level. Most have two red lines--lower is lowest amount of oil to run. Upper is highest amount to run. Some machines show level of oil but some have a vertical rod. The end of the rod is the oil level. It will raise as you pour oil in.

I have a janome 234D overlocker and when I start sewing the first thread (red) comes unthreaded....

This is a tricky problem, without being in front of the machine.
1. check that thread comes thru machine with ease (pressure foot up)
2. rethread machine starting with lower looper (right hand thread)
3. make sure that when pressure foot is down there is some tension on the thread, (sometimes stuff gets stuck in the tension discs)

4. if that fails, suggest having a repair service check it out for you.

Far right thread(green dot) keeps coming unthreaded. What am I doing wrong. I also need a manual as I have lost mine. Where can I get one?

You can download one for free at www.singerco.com under customer support, instruction manuals, enter 1634. You may benefit going under their frequently asked questions and see some good diagrams on threading overlock machines. The dot color may not match yours but most of the machines I have seen usually thread pretty much the same way. On mine, I have a certain sequence for threading, ie. the 2nd from the right has to be threaded first. Sorry this is so long but I really want to help you and hope that I have.

It keep coming unthreaded at the need when i start sewing

You must hold the top thread at the start of every row of stitching, if you dont then the tension will pull the thread backwards.

How do I change to straight stitching from overlock stitch please? I am using a friends Bernina1015 and she is in New Zealand!

Hi. Take out the looper threads and just leave the needles threaded. And if you want just one line of thread unthread one of the needles.
Of course then your going to have to rethread the loopers later to overlock in which case its important to do them in order.
Upper looper, lower looper, right needle, left. If yours is color coded as most are then the order would be blue, red, green, yellow.
Hope this helped.

NEEDLE KEEPS COMING UNTHREADED WILL NOT CATCH IN FABRIC

Most machines need to have the thread extend to the back of the machine in order not to come unthreaded.
