Most Price Phister valve cartridges have a plastic washer or "O" ring at the base of the cartridge, where it screws into the valve body. Replacements should be available at H/Depot, Lowe's/similar.

What's wrong with a leaking shower head following new boiler and how do I fix it?

The valves are leaking. It's not the shower head itself. Sometimes shower faucets require special tools to service the valves. If you have thought about new shower valves, now would be a good time to replace. Repair may be half the cost of installation of new. In other words, plumber's time to repair or replace is about the same. Get several quotes. TV show This Old House had one on a replacement. It may be available online. Home Depot or Lowes or Ace Hardware may be able to help, Or similar Hardware outlet in your area.

The thread that helps tighten the faucet has come apart from the faucet. I cant see back there to rethread the piece into the faucet so I can tighten the nut.

turn valve water off. Quickest fix is buy new plastic sink faucet nut and sink nut removal/installation tool from Lowe's or Home Depot. Take off old and install new. Turn valve water on and done.

We have a bosch dishwasher model shx43c and water is dripping on the floor from the area of the supply line, taking the supply line fitting out and re taping it and re tightening it has not helped, could...

If the supply line is leaking it could be a 3/8 supply line maybe the rubber washer built in the line is shot try replacing the supply line.they are about 15.00 at home depot.do not over tighten the new line you could damage it.some times people cross the thread types on these connection you have pipe thread and compression threads that is the best way to explain it I know of.Just make sure you pay attention to the threads.

Shower drips - seems to be increasing

Need to replace your internal seals inside the shower valves.
Go to Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and make sure you take your model number and maker of your shower and they can get you the parts to repair the valves to stop your leak.
If you do not repair it soon, the water leaking by will cut your metal seat and it will never stop dripping, you will have to replace the valve and it is a MAJOR job.

I have a Moen shower faucet that is six years old(copper sweated plumbing). My wife noticed water dripping profusely from the downstairs ceiling during my shower. The screws holding the face plate were...

Try removing the handle, then the face plate. With a flashlight handy, check inside the wall around the valve to see if you see any leaks. Then, try the valve by pulling the stem (may need a plier to grab this). Keep checking inside the wall. Next, try the shower, and again watch in the hole you have. You may find that the connection(s) to the valve is/are leaking, particularly at the top of the valve where the shower pipe heads up the wall. Or, it may be that the shower head's arm is leaking somewhere above. If you only see water dripping down from above, try the flashlight with a small make-up mirror to see if you can see where it's coming from. Sometimes the pressure in the shower head builds up from the flow restrictor, or the head's spray holes may need cleaning out (try soaking the head in a solution of CLR [stands for Calcium, Lime, Rust] available at most home improvement/ hardware stores). Sometimes the shower arm (the bent 1/2" diameter pipe that the shower head mounts to) isn't fastened in tightly enough. A good trick to help here is to wrap the threads with teflon tape, then apply teflon paste also. Wrap the tape clockwise around the threads so that it doesn't unwrap when you screw the pipe back into the fitting in the wall. Also, make sure the threads in the fitting in the wall are cleaned out, and don't let any debris contaminate the new teflon paste as you slip it back through the hole in the wall. If you find that the pipe out of the top of the valve is leaking, I recommend you call the plumber. He/she can likely fix it without taking the wall apart.

Facet leaking

Hi,
You can purchase a replacement cartridge for that... most hardware stores or places like Home Depot or Lowe's will have them. Take in the old acrtridge or the model of thefaucet. Some of them need a special puller to get the old cartridge out..

The all in one tub/shower faucet constantly flows. What can I do to fix this problem? Now I am a woman, so please make it simple.

Go to home Depot or loew and buy the seat replacement kit for your model of faucett. Your going to have to break out the tools (Philipps Screwdriver and a larger adjustable wrench) The remove the shower knob cover with a knife to access the mounting screw. Remove the screw and then the knob. (STOP!) Go turn off the water for the residence now! Then come back and remove the nut holding the faucett in place. The whole assy will with a little effort will come straigth out at you. Moen isnotorious for having to remove a plate from the bottom of the valve. NOTE the position of that plate and then remove it. Remove all of the seat seals one at a time and replace them with the new ones you purchased. Reinstall the NEW lower plate in the same position you removed the old one. Reinsert the assy back into the valve body. Tighten the retaining nut. Reinstall knob and secure with screw. Replace knob cover. Turn on the water NOW. Enjoy the non-leaking faucett.

Leak where Grohe shower head attached to the threaded pipe

Hello, Many shower heads have similar problems. (Very frustrating as you now know) The problem is the threads at the end of the (cheap plastic) shower neck are not flat. They are tapered (has an edge) - so it does not seat flush with the base of the shower head. Actually cuts around the rubber washer causing a leak.

What to do about it?

File the end of the neck some to create a flat surface. However, go slow. Be sure you can still screw on the shower head. Add a flat rubber washer in the shower head and plumbers tape on neck threads too.

Or Purchase a new shower neck that has a better design. The neck should unscrew from the front. Check and make sure you have an access behind the shower just in case you need to access the plumbing.

I replace the shower neck myself if there is an access.

Moen single handle valve tub/shower

The Moen Posi-Temp Valve is a pressure balanced valve and when not used for long periods of time they can stick causing only cold or hot water to pass through the valve.
A New Posi-temp cartridges can be purchased at most plumbing supply houses or big box outlets such as Lowes or Home Depot.
As long as you had cold water before, a new cartridge will solve the problem. In the future it would be wise to occassionally operate the valve at least a couple of times a month in order to keep the pressure assembly from becoming lodged in position. Just follow the instructions included with the new cartridge on the proper removal of the old cartridge and the installation of the new cartridge. a little silicone grease inside of the valve before installing the new cartridge will also help.
Be sure that there is no particles of the old cartridge left in the valve.
