HP Officejet J5780 AIO in use for less than 3

HP Officejet J5780 AIO document feed feature will not work. Printer has been in use less than 3 months, and the feed has never worked. When I try to use the feed for scanning or copying, the message on the printer readout is: "Reload document, and then restart job. Press OK to continue."
I do all that, but it still doesn't work.Any suggestions?Thanks.

Check the start up guide, to make sure you removed all packing material
you may also have to update your driver

press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to delete old print job
