My Sony LCD TV's (model number KDL-40BX420) color has messed up. In the middle of watching the tv, the contrast seemed to go really high. The image became very bright. It had nothing to do with the backlight, but the image is very high contrast. If I go into the settings and turn the "picture" setting all the way to minimum, the picture begins to look relatively normal, but I still see shades of solarization on faces and things. I have "reset" my tv as well as update the firmware. I'm assuming either the main board or T-Con board needs replaced. Could you recommend the likely cause of this issue.
The T con board is responsible for what you see and is responsible for bad, distorted images.
