Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Leaking water Ancient lennox central heat/air, to be replaced soon. However, has been running almost nonstop trying to keep up with the heat. Now I see water leaking from underneath the part of the central air unit inside the house. Is this dangerous, or just a nuisance I have to put up with until the unit is replaced in a week or two?

Sounds like ether you have a plugged condensate drain,or the drain pan is rusted out.If it it clogged you can squire a bit of water through to unclogg. If it is rusted youll have to wait it out.Good luck.

Why would my heat pump central air blow cold then warm

Sounds to me like you have wiring issues. Need to make sure all your connections are tight, wires are clean and free of bare spots (possibly from rodents chewing them)and your settings on your tstat are correct. Heat pump with back up electric heat.

I have an HRV system and want to know if it is possible to run a heat pump through my HRV ducts in the ceiling?

Hi, can you tell me what kind of heat recovery ventilation system you have? Is it a Honeywell, Lennox, ect.? Also tell me about how you have it set up as far as the duct work you are talking about and what kind of heat pump system you plan to install. If you tie your central air heat-pump ducts into the HRV ducts, it will interfer with the air flow. If you will, please tell me what you plan on doing as far as installing what to your home? New duct work for a new central air heat-pump unit, or what, so I will have some idea on what you are doing. Thanks so much. Contact me through my user name below.

My immersion heater keeps tripping out and we have no hot water or central heating, blowing the fuse every time. could we need a powerflush ??

You have an electricl shortage in the system since it keeps tripping or blowing a fuse. Would suggest having system evaluated as soon as possible to prevent any further damage or injury. Good Luck on your repairs

Goodman Air Conditioner not heating well...

Heat pumps in cold climates suffer a number of limitations stemming from the fact that they are designed for air-conditioning applications. As climates become cooler and heating becomes more of the primary HVAC function, one may find that conventional heat pumps lose capacity and do not satisfy the load of the conditioned space. In colder temperatures, a conventional system’s need to defrost can further detract from heating performance. The use of resistance heat or fossil fuels to supplement or replace the vapor cycle. The additional use of supplemental heat to temper cold air blowing into the space during defrosts. As it gets colder outside, the delivery air temperatures inside begin to fall when no supplemental heat is being used. Supply air temperatures that are warmer than the return temperatures add heat to a space, but discomfort occurs when these supply temperatures drop below skin temperature. The air movement can feel cool or even cold. While the heat pump may be operating exactly as intended, the consumer will desire a more comfortable environment.
