Question about SIIG SATA II-150 PCI (SCSA0012S1) Serial ATA Controller

1 Answer

I have a Dell Optiplex 755 SFF. I installed the SIIG SATA II-150 PCI card and the won't boot. The PC starts recognizes the new hardware and ask to press any key to continue but it just sits and do nothing. Remove the card and the PC boots without no issue. Any suggestion....

It would seem that you are experiencing the Usual Dell USB controller failure. You will need a new motherboard or a PCI USB card fitted. The latter is the cheapest and the most reliable.

How can I attach a Samsung hard disk HD080HJ/P to a Dell Optiplex 755 Core 2 Duo E4400 PC computer? There seems to be no master/slave settings on the hard drive.

Newer sata drives do not rely on the master/slave settings that old IDE drives used. Remove the old drive from the bad computer and plug it into an available slot in the new computer. Boot the new computer. Under My Computer/Computer the second drive will show up with the next letter available. Alternately you can buy an external hard drive dock that connects via usb and use that to transfer your files.

What model 2 or 3 Port FireWire PCI card (low profile) Adapter?

I could not find any product that would fit a SFF case. The best suggestion i have for you is to get the riser card adapter that will fit standard PCI cards in the Dell Optiplex 7xx models. here is the link and partial discription.

The Dual Full Height Riser from Dell™ enables you to fit two PCI card in its slots. This product has been tested and validated on Dell systems and is supported by Dell Technical Support when used with a Dell.

I hope this helps you. Best Regards, -md

Doesn't recognize new SATA disk. Have checked that disk is goodand can be accessed with a USB controller. Also, the SATA card BIOS does come up but shows no device on either channel.

Check all your bios settings, make sure SATA is enabled. Also see if the drive can be installed on another machine.

Make sure your OS version can support SATA also.

Good Luck.

Windows usually supplies the needed drivers during the original installation of windows and should have enabled both devices. You may have to do a new install of Windows to fix.

Dell Optiplex GX620 will not recognize firewire controller card

1394 drivers should be native to XP, you may be able to correct this by running an SFC scan

Take out the IEEE1394 card
Insert your Windows CD (if you do not have it order a backup from dell)
Exit out of 'install screen'
click Start
click Run
type 'sfc /scannow'
press enter
you should see a progress bar, when finished restart the computer

this compared critical windows files on harddrive vs CD, and replaces missing and corrupt files
