Re: screen problems

There should be buttons on the front of the monitor. If there is a menu button press that and navigate to the "degauss" feature and select it. If there is no degauss option you may be able to take it to a repair shop and have it done, otherwise, it may need to be replaced.

I have vertical lines on lcd tv due to something hitting the screen but no physical damage/crack. Can it be fixed and if so, how expensive?

If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".
Screen-shots to defective LCD are given. You can see and compare to that to your TVs', and can make sure about the fault to an extent.

Picture ok with a 6 inches blue vertical line from top to botton

For a five or 7 inch band we have a fix. Six is a big problem. A vertical band is either a sync condition requiring an adjustment of one or more pots on the circuit board. Usually the condition is Horizontal and rarely up and down the screen. LED is generally very reliable and two of 3 colors within the diode in your case (one red and one green) are not working. If this TV is in Warranty, replace it as you cannot fix this yourself.

Got a playstation display and it has a bluish purple vertical line down the tv but it disappears when any red shows up in thae area of the line any ideas what's wrong with it and if it can be fixe

The display unit is defective, some IC seems to be damaged, it can be repaired from any repair shop, but I don't think the cost will be low, as the display is manufactured by Sony and the spares are not available easily .

My Dell monitor developed a thin, dark line horizontally across the screen. Within three months, a second line appeared. I can view the screen, but must look above or below the lines at times. Any idea...

this occurs very commonly in all LCD monitors... this is because each and every cells in the LCD monitor are energized by the vertical and horizontal electric fields placed around the frame of the monitor... if a particular field does not gives the power to the associated cells to it, then the entire line of cells will not operate and together they looks like a single line...This is what happened in your case...

have a look at my tips for replacing the LCD screens on monitors, by clicking here....
