Hi, it would be on then fan assembly-you should see a copper heat sink. you can also get a notebook cooler-this is how i solved my excessive heat issue. hope this helps you. see if the fan has not failed. other than that the compound that goes between heat sink and cpu can be dry. also check the cpu power use-with task manager, and see if it is not at a high level. good luck please rate this solution. be well!

Has the fan, heatsink, and vents been cleaned? Is it overheating due to in- sufficent air flow? Clean, may have to open to get to the heatsink, improve air flow. A laptop cooler is one option. Overheating will kill computer components. Post results.

HP 6200 pro microtower the PC power led turns on but there is no display and after a minute or so all the fans starts running very loudly

Sounds llike the system may have overheated/is overheating. Open the case and look for the fan and heatsink. Check that the heatsink fins and fan are clear of dust. Also, make sure any vents are clear as well. You could also remove the heatsink from the processor, clean both where thay meet and apply some thermal compound before putting back together.

Hi I have a HP nx 6125. This laptop comes on and goes off after 1-5min, but you can login to Windows or to BIOS.

You CPU may be overheating and shuts off due to thermal overload.
The fan may be faulty or the fan and heatsink may be clogged with dust. If this overheating problem is not fixed, then eventually the CPU will fail completely.
If the fan does not spin freely then replace the faulty fan.
If the fan and heatsink is clogged with dust then clean and remove this dust.

I have a HP Laptop model pavilion dv8210us. The laptop shuts off itself when the hardware gets overheated. How can I get this issue solved?

Do you have the laptop on a hard surface or is it on your lap or a pillow? You must have lots of air circulation to keep the laptop cool.

I would suggest buying a laptop cooler, a device that has fans and plugs into the USB ports. They are in major computer stores and usually are under $30.

The overheating problem can be caused by a faulty fan and or dust clogging the fan and heatsink assembly. If the fan deos not spin freely then it is faulty, also loosen the dust and vacuum the dust from the fan and heatsink.

Hp 6720s lap top running - vista does not load

If the laptop runs extremely hot, then CPU will shut down (thermal overload) and will not boot up again until it has cooled down.
Overheating problems is caused by faulty fan (stop spinning) or the fan and heatsink assembly is clogged with dust. Check the fan, it should spin freely and remove and vacuum the dust from the fan and heatsink.
Replace the fan if it is faulty.

My hp pavilion laptop has big problem, help!

It appears that the system is overheating and shutting down. Cleaning the air vents with canned compressed air may help.

If that doesn't. the Fan, Heatsink and/or video card/motherboard may need to be replaced.
