How do I troubleshoot and repair this amplifier?

u may need to look into a forums or pages related to repairing car amplifiers because some manufactures do not give service manuals or schematic diagrams to the public.

The best advice i can offer is to take it to a JL technician and have the amplifier professionally repaired. The amplifier you have is a very good amplifier, so having it repaired by a professional, is worth it. After you repair it, make sure to run a 4 Gauge cable to the amplifier this time around.

is output amplifier is burned, check any burned fuse on the back. is high cmos power amplifier, need to be repaired. send to your top audio repair center.

First - disconnect ALL wires.... Power, Ground, Remote, RCA, Speakers.

Reconnect only power, and ground, and remote wire - being extra careful there are no wire strands sticking out of the terminal.

Now power on the amplifier.
If the fuse on the amplifier blows - the problem is internal and should be repaired by an electrical repair shop familiar with Car Audio Amplifiers - as Audiobahn is no longer in business - repair schematics are hard to come acros, and parts must be sourced elsewhere.

These amplifiers dont employ reverse polarity protection that most higher priced ones do.
The amplifier(s) are definately in need of repair - probably power supply - IF boss sells parts.
Chances are, however, the repair will meet or exceed the cost of a new (appropriately rated) entry level amplifier.
Just about anything can be repaired.... question is, are you willing to pay?
