The wrench light means that you have a trouble code in the ECM,and it will need to be taken to a shop to be hooked to a computer to see what it is.From the way you describe it,its going to be the idle step motor.

If you are close to an Autozone or Oreillys parts store, they will scan your vehicle for free. It sounds like you may have a wire to a sensor that has burned the insulation off or a Vacuum line may have fallen off and landed on a hot part.

Since the wrench light is on, your car has found the problem and needs to be scanned.

It could be the idle sensor. If your check engine light is on, get the codes. It it is the IAC, it will pick it up.

Brand new brakes will sometimes do this... they need to be "worn in".
If they are not new brakes, or if it continues, go to a tire store or to your dealership.
