I know that you can press the S↔D just above the DEL key. By pressing this key the answer will toggle between fraction and decimal display. As far as locking the calculator into a mode that will default to decimal results, well... that's why I'm here looking.

Struggled with this and found answer on about
page 19 of the instructions on the Internet.

Answer also appear on paper instructions under:
    "Displaying Calculation Results...etc
    just under "Note"

Trick is you must have calculator in "LineIO" mode
For setting MODE see "Calculation Modes & cal. Setup in paper instructions.

    Comments:

Sep 03, 2007 - As mentioned in previous note the Calculator will display the results in decimal format when in the "LineIO" mode

Thought I would add the sequence of steps to set the calculator in "LineIO" mode.

    Mode 1(Comp) AC
    Shift Mode(Setup) 2(LineIO)

Note: the space between each step is to make it easy to read.

If you enter fraction number only so the answer also will be in fraction, but if you enter at least one not fraction number like 1.5 or 2.33333 the answer also won't be in fraction. So what you need is to add 1/5 and decrees 0.2.

Decimal mode casio

Your problem is not with the scientific display, rather it is with decimal representation (approximate) or fraction/radical (exact). representation.
If your results are in fraction/radical form press the [S<>D] key to switch from one to the other.
The calculator is by default in the MATHIO t output mode: results are in fraction/radical form.
If you don't like to work with this mode just change the IO mode to LineIO. To do so, press [SHIFT][Mode](Setup) and selct 2:LineIO

When I divide the answer is in fraction form not decimal form how do i get it back

There are two options.

1) Whenever you want the answer in decimal form, place a decimal after at least one of the numbers.
For example: instead of using (1/2) use (1/2.)

2) Press the "Mode" button. Scroll down the list that appears until you find "Exact/Approx". If you set it to "Approximate", then it will always give the answer in decimal form. If you set it to "Exact", it will give the answer in fraction form.

How to convert fraction to decimal

You can convert between Standard Form (with fractions and pi) or Decimal form by using the "S<->D" button. Use Mode 1 if you mostly prefer fraction answers and you can use the SD button to convert to decimal or use Mode 2 if you mostly prefer decimal answers and use the SD button to see the fraction.
I hope this helps and good luck!
