Downloading Motorola Phone Tools

Hi there - what a great site! Anyway, I've been trying to hook up my phone to my new notebook (it has Vista on it - hopefully not a problem) and it won't download the phone. It goes through all the rigmarole of loading on the phone tools CD, then I had to update the device driver, but now it says it can't connect the phone (not detected) and they I need updates. When I say OK to updates, it then goes on to say that I already have the latest update! And it goes on from there, and no matter what I do it won't install. Hmmm, not happy as I've spent hours on this! Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. Thanks, Colleen

Same problem. After loading MPT on my new notebook operating on Vista, the phone can't be detected. All current updates have been obtained and even specified to operate as Windows XP service pack 2. Just doesn't work.

Hi there - I thought I was on the right path following your advice, though it was a little more complicated than just doing what you said and had to fiddle a little, but unfortunately even when I can now see that my phone is listed as a modem, when I plug mobile into the USB port and go through MPT, it still doesn't detect it! Hmmm, have spent hours and months trying to sort this out and I fear I may be old and gray before I can get my photos onto my notebook! Thanks again, it was much appreciated. Any further advice? Regards, Colleen

Hey there - well I finally was able to get an IT guy at work to look at things and he did what you suggested, but very unfortunately it still doesn't work! He said there may be something wrong with the connections in my mobile (I can't send via Bluetooth either). I left it at that for the time being, but now I remember that about 6 months ago I was able to download all the photos from my mobile on a friend's PC (after downloading the Mobile Phone Tools software). So, I'm still have the same dilemma - what to do?!! I really do apreciate your advice - perhaps we will work it out before I'm old and grey! :)

Hi again - I went to the link and tried the advice there, with no success. It comes up with the message 'This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact the product vendor.' As per the blog, I even went into the device manager to uninstall the phone, but it's not installed in the first place. I did manage to uninstall a 'motorola modem...' Still nothing. Hmmm :(

    Windows Vista.
I've installed the latest vista drivers from motorola website (registration needed).
Even Motorola Phone Tools 3.0 and 3.2 don't works.
    Message "Initializing..." and stop here.
No communications between phone V3 and software.
    10 retries with no success.

Motorola have down the page "Software Donwload" and i can't download the latest Motorola Phone Tools software.

It's the UAC turn it off un-install MPT than with phone plugged in go to Devices manager and uni stall the updated drivers, restart your PC in this order reinstall motorola driver update next MPT This time when you install you will notice that the automatic update will actually install with no error messages. remember to turn your UAC back on, the error message will come back when you Start MPT but it will run just Fine. I have done this now on three Vista maching's(Home Premium) What a pain good luck !

With the phone plugged in, go to the Device Manager (Control Panel, System, Hardware Tab in XP). Find the phone in there, usually under USB devices or Modems, right click it, and uninstall. Unplug the phone, and then plug it back in. When it asks to keep or replace drivers, choose replace.

Good luck!

This may be kind of a pain, but I'd try uninstalling all of the drivers and software. Reinstall the software and update it as much as possible before plugging in the phone at all.

I have seen this problem before when the old, non working drivers get "stuck" to the phone, and the updates fail to overwrite them properly.

Sorry it is giving you such a headache. We can put our heads together and figure it out before you are old and grey. ;o)

Do you guys have a separate memory card in the phone (not the SIM)? If so, try it without the card in. This may be causing a problem with the driver recognition.

Let me know if this works!

How do i load photos on Motorola MOTO? W755 is the sd card the only way to do this? I' ve tried tools program ,only good for music.

Download Motorola Phone Tools v5.0.5. When installed it will automatically update to the newest version. This new version will transfer photos.

Go to the following website:

Sign up to enter the site. (It's as easy as 1-2-3)

As a member, you can then download the Motorola Phone Tools (PC Suite) for your PC for free.

**Make sure you download the USB Drivers, too.

The download for the PC Suite is in .zip format. You'll need to unzip it to a new folder. (You can create a new folder on your desktop)

After unzipping the file to the new folder, double click on it to open > locate the >>
Setup884ac5e.jpg icon and double click on it.

This will install Motorola Phone Tools (PC Suite) on your PC.

Start the Phone Tools Program by double clicking on the icon on your desktop.

Download the Data Cable/Modem drivers and attach your phone to your PC with a USB data cable.
(You may also be able to use Bluetooth)

The PC Suite will include all of your options on the left hand side. <...>

Hi Pramod,
Motorola PC Suite costs money!!! (But can be found on the Pirate Bay if you look there)
Instead here is Motorola Phone Tools 5. It has the cool Update feature too. It's the one I use as I find it works better and has support for most Motorola phones.

Hope this helps
