The fan that operates the temp in the fridge is out. this fan is located in the space between the fridge and freezer. You can find the location of this fan by looking for vents in the fridge side of the unit near the temp control. The fan can be purchased at any appliance part house. Make sure to take the Model number and serial number with you to inure you recieve the correct part. If you open the area where the fan is located and find it frozen over your defroster is out. This too is easy to replace and same as the fan can be purchased at any appliance parts dealer. As with all appliances make sure to disconnect the power before servicing

If the fan that delivers cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator is not running, it needs to be replaced. This is usually a self replaceable item, if you have a few basic tools, and a source for the new fan. Availability will depend on the make and model of the refrigerator.

Freezer works but refrigerator doesn't get cold

There is a flapper mechanism in the freezer that directs the flow of cold freezer air into refrig compartment. If it is not working properly and is in the closed position the refrigerator will be much warmer than normal. Also make sure that the evaporator fan in freezer is running - it pushes the air out.

Refrigerator wont kick on. Freezer seems to be working, at least the food in the freezer hasnt started to thaw yet.

the refrigerator gets its cold air from the freezer compartment via ductwork between the freezer and refrigerator. a fan in the freezer circulates the air to the refrigerator. your fan is probably not functioning correctly or not it all. you should hear it running in the freezer compartment. if you do not hear it running it is either snagged on some ice or the motor itself is burned out and will have to be replaced.

Model 106.9630280 The freezer is working but

you probably have a bad air circulation fan or a restriction in the ductwork between the freezer and the refrigerator that the circulation fan supplies the cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment. you should be able to hear the circulation fan motor running when the unit is in normal operation mode. the only time the fan will not be running is when the unit is in defrost mode which occurs once every six to eight hours depending on the defrost timer in your unit.

The top of the freezer part is getting cold but the bottom of the Refrigerator part is not getting cold. The Refrigerator is only 10-11 months old ; what is wrong?

you need to check and see if the fan in the back of the freezer compartment is running. when the fan is not running the cold air will not be passed to the refrigerator compartment. open the freezer door and turn the unit to its coldest setting until the compressor kicks in then listen to hear the fan in the freezer compartment.

My bottom refrigerator is not cold. The freezer is okay.

Check to make sure the fan in the freezer compartment is working and not blocked. This delivers the cold air to the refrigerator. The fan should run every time the freezer calls for cold.

if the freezer is getting cold the problem is due to the cold air from the freezer not getting into the refrigerator. There are several things that can cause this problem. The coils in the freezer icing up and not defrosting properly is one of the things that can cause the refrigerator not to get cold enough. Another problem is the fan that blows the cold air from the freezer compartment into the refrigerator, not working. When the compressor is running open the refrigerator's door and push the switch that makes the light go out. You should hear the fan blowing the cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator, when this switch is pushed in. If the fan is working then you will need to find what is blocking the air flow. Iced up coils are a common problem. The icing problem can be due to a defective defrost timer or something defective in the defrost circuit. Click here for more information. Check for these problems and let me know what you have found.

Refrigerator compartment cools correctly for a few days then no longer receives cold air from freezer. The freezer continues to operate and gets much colder than it should.

does your fan blow? freezers have a fan that pushes cold air to the fridge side if fan is bad freezer will run extremely cold and fridge won't cool down and since frige won't cool down thermostat in fridge doesn't tell compressor to stop

Sani, see if the evaporator fan is running. That would be the fan in the freezer compartment. It moves the cold air to the bottom. If that is ok, then you may have a defrost problem. Is the freezer panel in back all frosted over? If so, it's probabley a defrost issue. Check these things first and post back...Catriver.

Refrigerator stopped working, freezer works fine

Sounds like the evap fan is not running. The fan takes cold air from the freezer to cool the refer compartment. If the freezer is cold the compressor is running. Generally the freezer will stay cold since the cooling coils are there but it must have the fan working to get the air up to the refer area. Pull everything out the freezer and take the back panel off to view the coils and fan, etc. It's a simple easy job to change the fan. If you find the coils are a total block of ice then it's another problem... the defrost cycle isn't working. Sooo... see if the fan is running in the freezer compartment first. See http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/AA43-57.gif for fan location, item 18 is the fan motor. Let us know what you find out.
