Question about Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine

Gaggia Classic Spurts Everywhere

I've tried different makes and grinds of coffee. But all I want is Lavazza Rosa in the morning and, Lavazza Decaf in the evening. No matter how much coffee I put in or how I tamp it down or whichever insert, 2 out of 5 times the coffee comes out horizontally at right angles showering the kitchen. This didn’t happen with my old machine. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi there if your coffee is spurting out the sides it is because the group gasket is worn or has gone hard through use and now needs replacing. Basically when you twist your coffee handle on it doesn't always form a perfect seal and so the pressure causes the coffee to spurt out the sides. If you are not sure where to get parts get in touch with David at coffeeservice@live.com and he will be able to sort you out.

My machine is doing this and it is brand new. I pulled one shot before it started spewing. It is exiting through the proper holes...just spraying instead of dripping. I just inserted the small plastic piece that I thought was only for the "perfect crema" system and it seems to be under control. Is that the fix or should I try to find out if I had a faulty group gasket...if so, how do I know that it is bad?

Hi, my Gaggio Classic is doing exactly as you described, spurting water/coffee out at right angles from the delivery spouts.

What do you recommend to stop this happening?

I have a Gaggia classic and want to use pods. I've got Illy ese pods and the right (one hole pressurised basket) but still get just brown water. Can anyone help please?

I HAVE BEEN USING THE GAGGIA CLASSIC FOR 34 YEARS AND I ALWAYS BELIEVED THIS MACHINE IS BEING DESIGNED FOR SPECIFIC COFFEE QUALITY. THE ILLY ESE PODS ARE NOT FOR THIS MACHINE, TRY LAVAZZA PODS INSTEAD THAT IS SHAPED PERFECTLY WITH GAGGIA FILTER HOLDER FOR PODS.

My gaggia titanium is dispensing very weak coffee. No idea why. Have tried different beans. No change.

try a finer grind coffee , you cant use a "store" grind in a cappuccino machine it requires a much finer grind than that

When I'm making coffee in my Gaggia Classic, the brewing basket tries to unscrew (twist to the left). I have a feeling some part may have warped and need to be replaced. What would it be?

The only part up there is the group gasket, it will move the handle if there is an excessive amount of pressure, try adjusting the grind and or tamp and if that does not work then replace the gasket.

No Steam, No Coffee!

The steam boiler, might be damaged, or the main board is not sending power to the steam boiler. Open machine and check resistance on steam boiler elements.

No cream on the espresso when dispensed

I was having this trouble with Lavazza beans and Morrisons (horrible) beans. I switched to Formula 6 from James' Gourmet Coffee on the internet and every cup has a great crema layer and good taste.
With the old beans I could get an occasional good cup, it seemed this was more of a problem if the machine had been switched on for a long time before making the cup. I use a Gaggia machine with a Gaggia MDF grinder on 8 or 9 setting, with the new beans I now get a great cup all the time so I'm going to try more the James' range!

No crema on short black

Make sure the coffee is a fine grade...place holder in machine for 6 mins before filling with coffee and ensure the filter holes are clear and dry.

Coffee spurting everywhere!

Unlike the other person offering a solution I have experienced this problem like you when making the first cup. I found that sending a blank shot of water through first does the trick before putting the coffee grounds on. Hope this helps.
