Got the 1T Buffalo DriveStation HD last week. After plugging it to my XP and installing the software, the computer hangs (may be hanged in the BIOS boot) after reboot and does not go any further. The only thing I can do is to unplug the drive and boot the computer again, then it will start up normally. Are there anything steps I missed out? Or is there something wrong with my HD? Can anyone help?

- Thanks for the information, kamal1984.
I tried to reset the boot option but it still didn't work. My boot option shows three options, two sets of serial codes and a 'Disabled' for the third option. I changed the boot priority of the options and it still could not be started up when connected to the HD. Any other suggestions?
set first device as your harddisk is bios. When you power up the computer press F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.then go to boot option then set first boot as hdd.

I have an old MaxtorD740-6L 40gb AT disk drive which I want to fit into my new computer. I am unsure as to which pins to fix the jumper to. There are four pairs of pins and at the moment the jumper is in the 3rd pair from the power plug. There are no diagrams or markings on the drive. Thanks Andy

I installed a Buffalo 1 TB external DriveStation yesterday. When I turned it on today, it began making this beeping noise and is not recognized in Windows Explorer. I am not finding any reason for this. If the USB is disconnected the beeping stops but restarts.
