My BOTH rear speakers are very distorted and garbled. This is a Bose system in a Cadillac Touring Coupe. If I adjust the balance the rest of the system works perfect.

It would appear based on your comments that the amplifier(s) responsible for the rear speakers may have been overdriven and the outputs are toast. Hence the highly distorted output on the speakers.

Is the amplifier(s)a part of the Speakers or a function of the radio itself?? If I replace both rear speakers will this correct the problem??

  • richie46 Oct 13, 2015

The amps are built in to the radio. If you take those rear speakers and connect them to another amp they will work fine. Just make sure that what you hear is distorted sound and not the scratchy sound associated with a melted speaker voice coil.

Is the amp you discussed part of the radio system itself? Or can I replace both rear speakers to correct the problem?

2004 cadillac devile left speaker front no working

Depends on which sound system you have - BOSE systems in Devilles have two left front speakers!
If it's an amp problem, you will have an error code (DTC) set which you can see with a code scanner.
Check to see if the L/R balance control is working properly - cycle it a few times to make sure there are no dead spots.
If it's the door speaker, it is probably water damaged or it has open coil wiring and will need replacing.

Rear deck speakers don't work

Nissan's 2008 Altima was offered in several trim levels, ranging from the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder model to the sportier 3.5-liter V-6 Coupe. While the high-end trim levels were equipped with a premium Bose-developed nine-speaker sound system, lower-end Altima models were fitted with a standard six-speaker system mated to a single-disc CD player.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The front speakers are the base against which you adjust everything else.

Adjust the front rear balance for 0dB.

Readjust the rest of the speakers using the test tones. Normal audio may not have a lot going on back there.

Front speakers only produce static

The amps are on each of the speakers. There is a place in Florida that will fix them for around $85.00 each plus shipping. I put a sony unit in mine and replaced all of the speakers with the kicker ds series for less than fixing the bose system.

Partial theft

As far as replacing the dvd any dvd player will work, as far as your LCR speakers go ( left, center, right ) it would be best to replace them with the same ones that came with the whole system, at least you want them to be same in size, power, and manufacture relative to the 2 rear speakers, at the very least the replacements should be same in size and power relative to the originals even if not from same manufacturer so as to attain relative level balance with the rear speakers, at the very very least any LCR replacement speakers will do really. The main point is keeping the relative balance between the LCR and rear speakers, the sub can be adjusted on its own. Sorry to hear about your theft by the way, that sucks.
