Question about Dell Computers & Internet

My 6 month new Inspiron 1525 laptop has a full red

I have a 3 GB laptop, brand new! That barely works due to a full red recovery drive. I don't know why its full as I only have 300 songs 10 pictures and nothing fancy except a firewall and antivirus softwear program. My computer runs VERY slow. I have high speed internet and it runs slower than when I used dial up.I am not very computer saavy and need to know if this needs to go into the shop to fix it and how much it will cost. Is it even fixable? My son-in-law who knows a little about computers said I have a $700.00 paper weight.

Maybe your inspiron 1525 battery need to clear all the Dummy File and cookies and virus.
Then close all the neednot program.
If this cant solve the problem, it must be the hardware problem. Send the laptop to dell customer to ask them repair it

Why are you saving files to the Recovery Drive, It should be locked

Go Start , Explore and look at the list presented to you , there should be a three drive letters at the bottom of the list

C, D , E

One should be your recovery partition
One should be your DVD drive
One should be your working partition

If you bought the laptop from a chain or local dealer take it back to them and ask for the recovery partition to be either re-named or cleaned out to the E drive.

Also make sure that when you save stuff it is going to the E drive

I need to know how to format the harddrive on my Inspiron 1525 laptop.

The fastest way to do it is by inserting the operating system install disk and select clean install and format the hard drive from there you don't have to install the operating system its a utility built in but if you format your hard drive it will erase windows or what operating system you use.

Hi my dell inspiron 1525 recovery drive is c drive and os drive is d drive , now i cant download anything ,messenger, antivirus or put pics on,are the drives the wrong way round, cos i just installed...

Seems like you have installed the OS on the wrong drive (OS has been installed on the 10 GB drive erroneously). By default, Windows would name the drive with OS as the C drive. Thus, the confusion.
What you need to do now, is to reinstall the OS once again, and this time ensure that the OS is installed on the bigger drive (It's named OS by default, should be around 160-200 GB depending on your drive size). Also, do not forget to Erase the disk before continuing with the installation. Please note that this method would destroy all data from your computer, so make sure you have a backup of all your important files and data.

Revert with the outcome.

Good Luck!

The hard drive has failed. If you're in warranty, contact Dell for a warranty replacement of the drive - it's a customer-replaceable part.
If you're out of warranty, look on ebay for a good deal on a brand new hard drive for your Dell Inspiron 1525

Dell Inspiron 1525 Hard drive

There is a trick to getting an overheated and damaged hard drive to run for a short period of time, maybe enough to get your data off of it. Place the damaged hard drive in a tupperware bowl with a lid. Get a can of refrigerant from an auto parts store, wear gloves....open the refrigerant with the attached hose and direct the refrigerant into the bowl keeping as much in there as possible. This will freeze the bearings and in a lot of cases allow the device to work for short period of time. This of course will not work if the problem is a damaged read/write head or controller card.

Get a bootable Install CD for whatever version of Windows and re-install windows from the CD drive. (Windows XP Home I imagine). If the laptop won;t boot from a CD you can alter the BIOS settings to allow it. If you don;t care about your documents, do a DESTRUCTIVE install which will wipe your Hard Disk.  Beware if you do a non-destructive install  that if your problems originated from a virus it could still be on your Hard Disk. If you need help with getting the BIOS  settings changed lemme know.

Problem with overheating.

Hi Dear. Always Pick n Place notebooks very carefully. When need to pick with both hands you can pick it in any direction but when need to pick with single hand, always use vertical position, without pressing and forcing any area. Place it on any flat surface where you are sure that exhaust system of CPU's fan is well ventilated. Heating problem may occure due to many reasons. Verify CPU fan function in BIOS, Clean CPU cooling fan and exhaust system with Electric Blower. NEVER use continuous charging, plug out charger wire when battry is 100% full, charg again when low battry alerts. This will increase battry life & backup time.
