Cannot reset or start the microwave
the buttons make their sound, but we cannot enter any numbers. the message on the screen says to refer to the owners manual and it's been misplaced.
I've left it unplugged for a couple of days to see if it would reset itself and it did not. There's not a model number on it, but it's an Inverter Genius sensor 1250W

Sounds like a bad keypad. You will need the full model number off the microwave to look up the correct control panel part number. Sometimes these type of parts can be really expensive & it may make more sense to replace the microwave depending on the age and condition.
Push the microwave door tightly closed. The computer will not start cooking until the door is closed for safety reasons. Some models of microwave will give a warning on the screen if the door is open.
Ensure you have programmed a heat setting, entered a cooking time and pressed the "Start" button on the microwave's keypad. Check that the microwave is not set to "Defrost" mode.
Unplug the microwave and wait for one minute. This measure will reset the microwave's internal computer if it has frozen or scrambled. Plug the microwave back in and try again.
Ensure the keypad lock mode is inactive. Most microwave ovens have a lockout feature that prevents children from starting the microwave while unsupervised. Lockout mode is usually deactivated by holding down the button that bears a padlock symbol (like the "Start" button in the photograph).
The "F2" on a microwave can mean that the touch pad has a problem. Once I saw that message on a stove. The technician told me to press the "stop/cancel" button two times to reset the electronics. That fixed it. The electronics inside the microwave are usually timers and they adjust the strength of the microwaves for cooking. The best thing to do if the stop/cancel trick does not work, is to look at the owner's manual. If there is nothing there referring to that code, then copy the model number from the microwave (usually inside the door panel or sometimes at the back of the unit) and go to the manufacturer's website. Look for support, enter the required information and find out what the code really means.
Many times, it is better to let a professional take care of a repair on a microwave. If you leave something loose or not properly installed, you could endanger your health with microwaves hitting you improperly. Always be careful when working with this type of equipment.
Press
the "Off/Clear' button to cancel anything on the display, and reset the
microwave. This is a soft reset and will simply get you out of any
program you have started. Press it when the cooking complete reminder
appears on the display.
Perform
a hard reset. Pull the plug out of the wall power supply, and wait a
moment. Plug the GE microwave back into the wall power supply to reset
any anomalies with the microwave's memory. You will need to reset the
time of day if you perform a hard reset.
Reset
the time of day. Press the "Clock" button, and turn the dial to set the
hours. Press the dial to enter. Follow the same procedure for the
minutes and a.m. or p.m. Press the "Start" button to start the clock.
It sounds like you may have accidentally set the child safety lock. Some ovens have this feature as a safety device to prevent children from manipulating the controls. If the model number you have this listed under is correct, all you have to do is press and hold the ENTER/START button for 4 seconds and the lock will clear. If the model number is not correct, post back with your correct information, or refer to your owner's manual under the "Operating Instructions" section.

Well I had the same problem. It made me start unplugging a microwave when it wasn't in use, which is always a plus. When it does the whole 6666 thing, press 5 and then stop/reset. It usually allows me to input what I want after that. Good luck people.
i have the same microwave and mine does the same thing, try this push the clock button and enter the time or just push 100 and hit the clock button and then enter in your cook time and hit start.
F3 occurs if the controller detects a key shorted for more than 60 seconds.
Luckily, on this model, the "keypanel" as it's called is available as a separate part.
If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety & disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering the model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
The "keypanel" is shown as reference number 44 on that exploded view.
