Most vacuums have a heat resister in when they overheat they cut out, this is normally because they are full up, got a blockage or the filters need cleaning, suggestions are, clean filters, empty and check for blockage.

The make of our hoover is solec ci 1600w it has lossed suction, has got noisey, and cuts out when it gets hot

Here is a link to the hoover site where the manuals are. My guess is that either your filter is dirty or you have an obstruction in your hose or head and it needs cleared which the manual should guide you to resolve. I was unable to find the model you have by your description but you should be able to as the search function will guide you to enter the necessary information to get you where you need to be. Best of luck

Are the brushes worn down too far? As they wear the springs tension gets weaker. The brushes can also get stuck inside the channel they slide in. Could also be a buildup of dust etc inside and around the internal fan or commutator, etc.

How can I get my DC26 working?!

They can cut out due to overheating. Although you say you have 'cleared' the filters, they should ideally be washed as they can clog with very fine dust and cause overheating due to lack of air flow. Once a machine cuts out due to overheating it can take maybe half an hour (or longer) to cool down enough to work again.

Turn vacuum on it run for a few seconds then stops power on light is blinking

Whats your model number? A lot of machines contain a circuit that cuts the motor power when it gets to hot. Try cleaning/replacing filters and a fresh bag.

H3000 Motor becomes very hot during use

Over heating on a floormate is cuased by obstructions or a clogged up filter. Try running it without the recovery tank. If it doesn't over heat you need to check for obstructions in the nozzle and the tube leading up to the recovery tank. if that is all clear, a new filter should fix it.

If the machine over heats without the recovery tank on it, you might be right. Hoover only sells motor assemblies, not just the brushes. I have never seen them used enough to need new motor brushes simply because of wear. If the brushes are worn down completely, there is probably a short in the motor.

Let me know if this helps.

My Henry Hoover cut out and will not work. Emptied bag and replaced fuse but no success.

If no burning or smelling, maybe nothing to do with motor, and if caused by the safety cut-out, it will need about an hour to cool down, and then check filter, bag, and drop coin through hose, pipes and the floor tool, to check for blockages and to stop it running hot. Damaged cable, worn carbon brushes, broken electrical rewind electrical contacts or even the printed circuit board (later models) are the most likely causes.

No power to Dyson checked plug & fuse both ok any Ideas

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

If the machine cut out during use this will be the thermal cut out. This is caused by the motor becoming too hot during use, due to a blockage or a dirty filter. full details on how to resolve this can be found on our website at www.dyson.com. Simply click on Support and you will find all the info you need.

If the machine has cut out and wont switch on again after being left for a few hours, it sounds like an engineer will be required to inspect and repair the machine. You can contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards

Shutting off due to overheating

The foam style filters they sent you go in the top of the vaccume above the canister. There is a sticker in the back of the canister compartment indicating an orange lever in the top of that compartment. This releases a plastic retainer with the foam filter in it. Mine was so caked with dirt after 1 year of use it took a while to clean it up. I thought the vaccume was done for in only a year.
