Question about Olympus 40-150mm f3.5/4.5 Zuiko Lens

1 Answer

My Olympus/Zuiko 40-150 lens is functioning very erratically. It does not auto-focus nor manual focus. When it sorts itself out after some time, the view through the view-finder becomes darker as do the photographs taken with every shot I take, and again does not autofocus. I have tried the lens in both my Olympus cameras The E-330 and E-520 with no success. Can this problem be solved please. Thanks and best regards, Tony Vella

Why wont my Olympus zuiko 300mm lens zoom to max length?

Most camera's can't focus when the aperture number is above 5,6. Although your tele zoom starts at 4,8, it reaches the 5,6 at about 150 mm. So from there and up it can't auto focus. You still should be able to focus manually, but for wild life or sports pictures, it is useless.

My pl1 camera has blurred pictures but when lens taken out, its ok.

Are you using an auto-focus m4/3 lens? I have about 20 lenses for this camera and only 1 of them is an auto-focus m4/3 lens. I have an adapter so I can use my 4/3 lenses on it in auto-focus mode along with other various mounts (including cctv) that do not support auto-focus. So if you are using a non-auto-focus lens, you will need to manually focus the pictures.
If you are certain it is an auto-focus lens, are you sure you have it set to auto-focus?
What settings do you have your camera set to (aperature mostly is what I'd like to know)? Try adjusting your aperature to be small (to increase your DOF).
Also what lens are you using and what is your focal distance? It could be your lens has a larger or shallower focal distance than what you are trying to achieve (like a macro lens doesn't work that great for landscape photography or a telephoto lens doesn't work great for macro photography).
Last thought: is your lens or sensor dirty? A dirty lens can cause focusing issues if it is REALLY dirty and a dirty sensor can too (sensor is a bigger pain to clean. I strongly recommend taking it to the pros as they scratch really easily). Dirty lenses can be cleaned with a blower and a lint free cloth and rubbing alcohol if those 2 things don't clear it out.

Which size of adapter to use to fit it to Nikon D300?

Nikon bodies are thicker than Olympus bodies, thus while Nikon lenses can be made to focus to infinity when mounted onto an Olympus body, an Olympus lens will not focus to infinity were it mounted onto a Nikon body. Thus, no one makes an adapter to fit an Olympus lens onto a Nikon body.

I have the 70-300mm and for some reason i cant get it to focus either on auto or manual. it was working ok on day then took it out in the snowy weather and it wouln't work. can anyone help?

Quick temperature changes may cause this. I have the same lens. May be you must clean the pins while attaching lens to the body. If this information will help you please give your vote. Good Luck.

Zuiko 70-300mm lens focusing problem

Haha!!
Maybe its something you're not doing, LOL.
Look on the side of the lens. Most of the 70-300 macros have a slide switch. My Tamron, for instance, needs to be zoomed out to 300, then slide the switch to Macro and its ok. Look for the slide switch. You might also notice lines of a different color to denote Macro.
Some days it too tough to be smarter than the lens,
LOL.

The 510 seems to have trouble auto-focusing in low light. Manual focus works if there is enough light for your eyes.

Can this lens fit an olympus C 5060 ?

No, it will not. The C-5060 does not use interchangable lenses. I cannot tell from the picture that you have attached what cameras this will fit. It it was, in fact made by Olympus, it would appear to belong to their line of 35mm film cameras.
