Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook
I have an Acer Apsire 3000 laptop running XP and with all functions working except the ability to switch to an external monitor. Both esetting and F5 recognise the external monitor is there (when I connect through VGA cable) but the laptop just will not switch using either F5 or esetting functions. The external monitor works fine with other laptops???
This may help.
Give this a try.
Turn the computer completely off, hook up the external monitor, and reboot. After bootup(and still not seeing the other monitor) right click in the middle of your LAPTOP screen, select Properties, this will bring up the Display Properties window. Go to the Settings tab(far right). Please ensure that there are two monitors that appear. You should see a number 1 and number 2. Click on #1, this is your laptop screen, and ensure that there are tick marks next to:
Use this Device as the primary monitor. And Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.
Then Click on #2 and ensure that there IS NOT a tick mark in the first box but that there IS one in the second.
Please reply if you require further assistance. It may be that that monitor is not compatible with your laptop. I would also suggest that you visit the manufacturers site of the laptop ond make sure you have all the latest video and chipset drivers.
