My xbox 360 dose not load anything

It doesnt load anything from the hard drive or from the disc? Do you hear the disc spinning? Are your cables properly connected and do you have the television set to the proper tv input? Usually if its the hard drive it will or should reformat itself especially if connected to the internet via wireless or the cat5 cable. Many of the early xbox 360's used to heat up really bad and you would get the red ring of death. There is a fix for that overheat issue though.

IBM thinkcenter says no os after installing DVD writer

Did you install a SATA or an PATA (IDE) drive?

First check that the data cables are connected to both the hard drive and the motherboard. (I know that I've frequently had the cables come loose from the motherboard on my ThinkCentre 8433 when I work in the case.) Also check that the power cables are firmly connected.

Next make sure that you have no disc in the DVD writer. (Or enter the BIOS by pressing F1 (IIRC) repeatedly on start up. Make sure that the hard drive is the boot disc.) While in the BIOS, you can check if the hard drive is recognized by the motherboard. If you don't see the disc listed, recheck the data and power cables.

If the hard drive was working before you replaced the dvd drive, you may have changed the master/slave assignment on the drives (if they are both IDE). Remove the drives from the computer and check the jumpers. (These will depend on the manufacturer. Use either cable select or master/slave as needed) The boot drive should have the jumper set to master or cable select. In the case of cable select, the boot hard drive should be connected to the black connector. The slave drive goes to the grey connector.

If you connected a SATA drive, try swapping the SATA ports (SATA 0 or SATA1) that has the optical drive connected to it.

The next thing to try requires either the Windows install or upgrade disc for your version of the OS (including the Service Pack) or a third party partition manager/repair utility disc. You'll need to reset the boot order to boot from the optical drive (or press F12 on starting the computer). Use the Recovery Console (for the Windows disc) to find any existing OS installs on your hard drive and attempt to repair the master boot record or boot sector if it still exists on the drive. Please add a comment with your OS for specifics on using the Recovery Console. (I replaced my WinXP with Win7 and the methods are different.)

You may have been unlucky and had the hard drive fail while you were working in the computer. See if the recovery partition (F10 on boot) still works or use your system image (Rescue and Recovery DVDs) will restore your computer to the last backup. Try doing the restore to a new hard drive if the recovery discs don't work.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with any comments that will help me give more specific assistance for your missing OS.

What can i do when i turn on my acer aspire one laptop and all it says is 'error loading operating system'?

It sounds like it could be a hard drive failure, or a connection for the hard drive came loose. If you got it brand new then I would suspect a loose connection.

If it is not either of those, I would suggest running a recovery disc that restores the hard drive to the state of when the disc was made.

Reformat hard drive in 11.10

You can not format your hard drive using it's on software on the same hard drive. Because your notebook does not come with a DVD rom or CD rom what you need to do is to get yourself an external DVD rom which you connect to the computer with a USB cable. Then you use the disc of the operating system that you want to use on that Notebook. When you reboot the operating system disc will be recognized and on the screen you will be asked to press any key if you want to run the disc. So you will press and follow the instructions the rest will take you to formatting the disc and loading the operating system.

No power on

Try connect it to other PC.Inspect the connectors inside the PC.

The drive doesn't have power.
• Is the power supply cable from the host computer plugged in?
• Is the Power Connector to the drive securely attached?
• The system doesn't start.
• Are the Primary and Secondary connections and the Master and Slave settings
correct?
• Is the total length of the IDE cable 18 inches or less?
• Is each connector completely attached?
Other connections may have been knocked lose while installing the drive.
• Cannot Read or Write Discs.
• Is the condition of everything else in the system (CPU, hard disc, and others)
as it should be? (See system environment page 2.)
• Does the CD or DVD disc have dirt or scratches?
• Did a screen saver or other application operate while writing to the disc?
• Is there enough free space on the CD, DVD and DVD-RAM disc?
• Does writing fail even using the simulation test?
• Is the disc loaded in the drive with the read/write surface facing the right
direction? (label up)
• Is the drive installed in the correct orientation?
• Was the drive or disc moved from a low temperature environment to a high
temperature environment? (There is a possibility of condensation on the lens in
the drive or on the surface of the disc.)
• Using a 40-pin IDE cable might bring the '04/08/03 error (LOGICAL UNIT
COMMUNICATION CRC ERROR (ULTRA-DMA/32))'.
In this case, substitute to 80-pin type IDE cable is highly recommended.
This kind of error is hardly detected from some specific motherboard

Laptop wont start up just says a disc read error has occured, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart but when I do this I just keep getting the same message

Two possibilities are involved. 1) The hare drive is not responding correctly. This could result from a loose cable (needs to be connected to the motherboard and the drive) or a damaged drive (either from damage to the disc or lost boot information).
2) A non-boot disc is being accessed in the boot sequence. This could be a CD/DVD in the optical drive, a floppy disc in that drive (older laptops) or a USB connected drive (either a thumb drive or a regular external disc).

The second issue is easy to solve, disconnect/remove any other media. Then try to boot. Alternatively, on most Windows machines, you can press F12 to choose the boot sequence. However, you need to press the button between the POST (power on self test) and the loading of Windows. For me, this can take several attempts.

For the first, the options depend on your skill/willingness to open the computer. One option is to use a Live CD (a bootable disc) to see the status of the hard drive. Use the F12 sequence if needed to boot from the disc. (The live cd could be a Windows Recovery/Install disc.)

To save files from the disc, you can either use a UNIX Live CD and an other drive (an external optical R/W drive or hard drive) or remove the disc completely and connect it to another computer. For this second option, use an IDE/SATA/USB dongle, a laptop hard drive enclosure or hard drive dock. The dock will work with a SATA drive; disc enclosures need to be selected to match the drive type (IDE or SATA). When you do the disc removal, you will see if the cables are loose. Be careful with static while opening the computer.

Then replace the drive with a new one, reformat and reinstall the OS or use the recovery disc to attempt to fix the boot problem.

I hope this helps.
