Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
I noticed when I turn on my HP compar presario V2000 PC, the fan at the back is not running...when I connect to the power supply,it is not running too...If the fan run automatically when it is not ?
Most laptops fans run briefly at boot time to check that they are responding, but some do not. It is not unusual, though, for laptop fans to only run when they are hot. Try using the laptop in bed surrounded with blankets and see if the fan turns on after a while. Also check the fan (if it is visible, as some are) is not clogged somehow with lint or dust, which does happen. If it is clogged, take a vacuum cleaner on smallest nozzle with the laptop unplugged and slowly suck the lint out through the ventilation holes.
If the laptop heats up badly (HPs are known for this) and the fan never turns on at all, the fan could be bad, but this is very unlikely. If it were the case, ask HP to replace it under warranty, or if not under warranty, have a go at removing and replacing it, though this is a last resort. You can also get a cooling pad/docking station for laptops that would help, though it would tie you to carrying around a base unit.
