My 3 year old Vizio 42" plasma made a loud click and the picture disappeared(sound's ok). I opened it up and replaced a 4Amp fuse that had failed, but when I clodsed it up and turned it back on the picture was very dim, discolored, looking like a color negative. There were also inconsistencies across the screen like grey clusters of pixels in the areas that are supposed to be black (on the brorder around the 4:3 image). Even the OSD volume bar is not a good green color as it is supposed to be. That picture stayed for about 1 minute and then again a clicking noise and the image disappeared. I guess the same fuse had blown again (4AH250V)

I have a Zenith 50xp2d plasma tv. The colors are off and some parts of the screen look like there is ink spilled on it which go away slowly after some time if the input image gets brighter at that part.

I have a similar problem the picture works fine then all of a sudden it flashes into a negative of what i am watching then back to normal. it does this randomly . cold first start or warm after being on for awhile it does this. sometimes it does it after its been off for awhile then back on almost immediately other times it does it after its been on for a bit. I have unplugged it and did not plug it back in for 2 days approx 53 hrs and still same thing. checked the outlet voltage and that was fine. I tried this with and without the surge suppressor. no diffrence. everthing elese works great on this plasma. no other problems. any kind of help would be helpful.

Check the contrast settings
If you are a Technician than just check the video supply from 150 to 200 volts at all three RGB Cathodes in most of cases there would be dry soldering in others it could be due to failure of supply resistance check base biasing voltages if u can provide more information then I could pin point the fault

Good Luck

42" plasma tv problem

Hello, If you are referring to the actual shape of the prongs coming out of the tv plug(refer to figure): prs1-6980390t98.jpgif the prongs look like this, you will have to acquire an ac adaptor for your TV, this adaptor you can locate at any radioshack store, and sometimes it's called foreign ac adapters for US use.
or simply look at the radioshack webpage, it should be listed under ac adapters.

Problem with my jvc av42pd20es picture looks like a negative photo

There are two things that can cause what you see.

The main drive board to the Plasma tube is not supplying proper drive voltage, or proper biasing to the Plasma tube. Or, the Plasma tube itself have gone weak.

I hope you did not pay too much for that screen. This type of repair is very expensive! I am sure that is the reason why the seller put the set up on auction.

I always tell our customers, to never buy used unless you know the seller is reliable, and that you can test the set and have it professionaly checked before buying it.

If you can find a couple of Plasma sets of the same model with a good display tube and maybe some bad boards, you can then do some board swaps to make one out of the two. That is if the used sets you get don't all have the same fault. We've also been through this.

Ours does the same but resets if you switch off at the plug (not if you put on standby).
Look at the clock next 2 times it happens, ours happens at 8 minutes to 11 every night. No idea why!
