Question about Teledyne Laars Laars Lite 2 Pool Heater 250,000 Btu / Natural Gas
Mine is a 175000BTU, model ES175, It quit working. I paid for a repair, lasted a few weeks, was told I need a new expensive thing. I discovered accidently that by tapping around, like Paw Kettle, by hitting the red ignition wire it lites up and shuts down when it is turned off, will not re start unless I hit the wire again, using the wood end of a screwdriver gently, I have removed the wire and kind of cleaned it and it still does not come on when turned on but works when hit, jiggled....thank you maurie thomas
The heater has a pilotless ignitor. It lights up a glow bar and then gas flows to ignite off the glow bar.
When you're tapping with your screwdriver you may be creating a temporary connection on the ceramic element of the glow bar.
I would suggest replacing the ceramic element. Remember after it gets hot over and over they get brittle and can break if tapped or banged after they've been used ...
Good luck on this hope this solves your problem.
