Hello there, so sorry to hear about your woes with this device.

Unfortunately it is very difficult if not impossible to repair this on your own, you will need to buy a new DC jack for the unit, it's going to be hard to locate the exact one you need. Your best bet is going to be to contact Canon and schedule a repair.

There is a good chance it is still under warranty and will be free to fix. If not, it should be a pretty small fee from Canon to fix it. Please give them a call at 800-828-4040 (I think that once the call is picked up you can hit # and wait until a live person answers). If not just go through the menus until you get someone.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news, this is fairly common with this type of power plug.

Thanks for your time, hope this helps!

Zoom b2 powers up with batteries, but not the power supply

Some possibilities:
  • Damaged on the DC-IN socket.
  • Broken solder joints on the center pin of the DC IN socket (see figure: -V). Resolder.
  • Damaged (broken) in D2 or R76. Replace

Casio keyboard will not power on

2 possible solutions to look at.

1) Ensure that the power adaptor is the correct polarity. Ideally you should use a Casio power supply rather than a generic one. For Casio the centre pin must be - Negative. Many power supplies have + as the centre pin, this is therefore like connecting the batteries up backward - IT MAY DAMAGE YOU KEYBOARD

2) The socket on the keyboard where the adaptor plugs in is prone to breaking and coming loose from the circuit board Looks something like picture below ( maybe grey ) This can often be diagnosed by holding the power adaptor plug where you clip it into the keyboard and moving it at the same time as turning on. If you get any lights the socket is faulty and will heed to be replaced. If you post the model number I can advise on socket needed.

3) More serious internal damage possibly as a use of wrong power supply ( see note 1 )

Good luck in tracking the fault.

Can you charge the 1440 using a usb to the computer?

For the software version: In the menu go to "Product Information" you will find it there.

If your GPS receiver has power pin port and a USB port the internal battery cannot be charged using your computer. You must use the supplied vehicle power adapter to charge the receiver's internal battery.

If your GPS receiver only contains a USB port it can be charged by your computer however we recommend using the supplied Vehicle Power Adapter.

Charging the internal battery using your computer may take up to 12 hours. Charging the internal battery using he supplied Pehicle power Adapter takes 4 - 6 hours. The receiver can be powered on or off while charging.

Your relief was short lived. Though the fall did not damage the player itself it appears to have damaged the power supply side of the unit. Perhaps the charging socket got a direct hit and has broken internally. I think you will have to take this to a repair shop as it could need some parts.

Why would the plug melt on an Acer 5315?

Plugs melt when the connections 'short circuit'.
This means the positive and negative energy paths are touching.
Even the smallest AAA or 9V battery will get really warm if your connect the terminals together, and the power supply of a laptop computer pushes more more power (amps) than a little battery.
If it is indeed the power connection of your laptop has some melting damage, I must recommend you have your laptop and its power supply serviced or replaced, and to not plug it into the wall until you do. Fires have started by malfunctioning/damaged cameras and computers.

I hope that helps.

It will not ring and the base will not register

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Connect the charger and then plug the power supply unit into the wall socket.
Now insert the two batteries supplied
To register your handset to a base station, place it in the main base station with the display facing upward. After approx. one minute, the handset's internal number is Displayed (e.g. 2). Successful registration is signaled by a confirmation tone. Replace the newly registered handset into the charger and leave to charge for Approximately 16 hours. The charging status icon flashes on the handset to indicate that the batteries are being charged.

To register it manually:

Press the MENU options button.
Press the DOWN button until the display shows REGISTER HS.
Press the OK button. Display shows PIN.
Enter your 4-digit Pin (original setting 0000).
Press the OK button. Display flashes REGISTER HS.
Following the user guide for the base station you are registering to place the base into registration mode.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

What signal is sent over the center pin of the power adapter?

the problem isn't in the psu - it's in the laptop. The centre pin supplies a trigger voltage with a simple carrier which tell s the BIOS about the power characteristics of the unit. Missing that signal, the BIOS assumes that even though there may be enough power to run the laptop, there may not be enough to charge the battery - a situation that, on lower power PSUs, can lead to damage to PSU and/or laptop. That's a safety feature that it doesn't attempt to trigger the charging circuit. The most likely reason for that trigger being missing is the (very poorly-designed) PSU interface having become disconnected from the rail. The socket needs replacing.

E machine wont start

Here's something you can try: If you can borrow a computer power supply rated at 350 Watts or more from someone, do the following: Unplug your power supply from the motherboard. If it's an older model (pre-Pentium 4), there will be one wide (20-pin) white plastic connector. Along one of the long sides of the connector, there's a retaining latch. Squeeze it, and gently rock the connector from side to side along its length, while pulling up. The connector should come free. If it's a newer PC, there will be a second connector with 4 pins, and yellow and black wires. If so, squeeze its latch and just pull up on it. Next, disconnect the white power connectors from the optical drives, hard drive, and floppy drive. If the internal fan you talk about is a case fan, unplug it, too. At this point, you should be able to take all of the power cables and hold them out of the case.

Now, plug the power cables from the power supply you borrowed into all of the sockets you just vacated. The motherboard connection(s) have a little nub on one side; this lines up with the latch on the plug(s). The hard drive and optical drive connectors only fit one way. The floppy connection is wider on one long edge; this sits on a little shelf when the connector is plugged in. Plug in the case fan. Make sure the borrowed unit is not resting inside the case. Finally, plug the AC power cord into the socket on the borrowed power supply. You should now be ready to push the PC's power button. Do so.

If the PC boots fine, you have a bad/failing power supply installed in it. Sometimes they just don't have enough power to boot the motherboard when other accessories are also drawing power. If more accessories than those which came with the PC were added, this makes the problem worse.

If this works, you need to replace the original power supply. With your PC turned off and unplugged, remove the 4 screws holding the power supply to the back of the case. Lift the unit out. If you can keep the borrowed one, it's simple. Place it into your casr where you removed the original one (note the unit will fit two ways, but the screw holes only line up with one of them), line up the screw holes, and install/tighten the screws. Plug in the AC cord, and boot the PC up. If everything is okay, turn it off.

Since you're already inside the case, take some canned are and dust off the internals. Be especially sure to remove any dust between the processor's heat sink fins. Hold the processor fan with a finger to keep it from spinning.

Of course, if you CAN'T keep the borrowed unit, disconnect it as above, obtain a replacement, and repeat the installation/connection steps above.

Let me know if this works.
