Picture often flickers and image distorts every few minutes

The trouble is most likely in the Video processor. If the trouble looks like its tearing the video only from side to side it may be the line doubler circuit. Some of these boards are no longer available but a good TV tech may be able to componnent level repair it for you.

We have a Toshiba TP50H95/TP55H95 Color Stream Projection TV that is 10 years old and we recently switched cable companies. Since then the picture is not filling the screen completely on bottom or on top...

A to expensive to fix part is going on the projector. Suggest you get a new one. I've owned 3 projectors over the years. The best one is a Viewsonic 7820hd. 3000 to 3200 lums brightness, short throw lens (104" screen at 12 feet from the projector) 1 HDMI input 1 RCA input 1RGB input and 2 computer inputs. Price varies- but I got mine at Tiger Direct 3 yrs ago for $488 bucks- the Viewsonic 7822 (2 HDMI inputs) is on the Viewsonic website on clearance or refurbushed for around that price. AND- They do a full 1080 HD and also 3D.

Replacing ic's of TP50H95

I can try and guide you from my very limited experience if you'd like.
When at the back of the set looking into the tv, the board that is furtherest to your left and has a riser ontop of it is the board that contains the two stk392's. Look for the side by side aluminium heat dissipaters that the stk392's are attached to (you can't see the stk392's from the back of the set, the dissipaters are in the way) You need to get that board out to complete repair, once you remove the board, the solder points for both the dissipaters and the stk392's are obvious.
I took a photo of all the connections prior to removing board and then labeled all of them. Once I replaced the stk's, I was surprised how easy it was to get it all back together, I didn't need the photo and my repair was successful. There were about 25 different connections and 8 or so screws holding the board in place including one or two in the middle. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Toshiba TP55H95 Shutting Off

the power supply board may not be the problem as that only provides the voltages that go to the other areas of the chassis. Where as a manual will explain where the voltages go and what has to happen for the set to start. the power supply could be good but a leaky diode on say the signal board could allow voltages to increase thereby shutting the set down. Unless youre really good at troubleshooting, I would highly recomend getting a manual.

Toshiba TP50H95 TV Won't turn on - Pete

You will need to trouble shoot the start up and shutdown circuits. Often this is a minor component failing causing the set to not power up or go into protective shutdown. Do you have the service manual for this TV?

Turn of sometime

I would check out your power supply and shut down circuitry as thats what yourset is doing when it shuts down its ging into the protection shut down. You can get the power supply and shutdown troubleshooting quide for your set at the following link for 10.99 and if you request that they email it they will. You just have to return after you order and click on the contact link to request they email instead of mail your manual. Heres the link.
