Yep - I know a clock repairman in California who still has some of the original Hechinger Quartz Movements for the Alessi pendulum clock . Definately worth repairing .

The original Hechinger Quartz Movement for this clock is no longer made. Hechinger makes quartz movements but the current ones are a different form factor and will not fit this clock.

Search on ebay for "hechinger quartz clock". You will often find clocks that have the exact same movement. They usually include pictures showing the movement so you can verify it's the same one. You can buy these used clocks for $10 - $20. It's difficult to find a clock with the movement that has the pendulum pivot on top and the pendulum electromagnet on bottom. Mostly what you find on ebay are clocks with the same movement but without the pendulum attachments. But the electronics are the same and you can just swap the quartz electronics. This requires some soldering. You could take your clock and the replacement movement to a clock repair shop and have them replace the internals.

You may need to search ebay several times over a period of a few months but these do appear occasionally. I was able to fix our Michael Graves Alessi Mantle clock this way. I also bought a few of these clocks on ebay to have a lifetime supply of replacement movements.

Need replacement clock hand

Your best bet is to see if the original manufacture of the clock is still in business. If so, they may still have the necessary information for one of their clock makers to make a new hand for you.
The only other solution is to locate a watch maker who specializes in restoration of old clocks and watches. There are many around who are very good. A new replacement hand can be made for you.
In any case, obtaining a hand will not be cheap. There will be a number of hours of work involved to make a new hand. The watch maker will most likely need the clock movement set to him so he can do the exact measurements required.
As for original parts off the shelf for old clocks, these are not easy to find. Many of these clocks were built on a one-by-one individual basis.

Metal pendulum wall clock run by AA batteries... does not run... new batteries do not solve the problem.

Hi! the movement must be bad, you can actually have a battery clock movement replaced easily at a watch or clock shop! We charge about $30.00 to 50.00 if the movement is available, you did not mention what type of clock? if you can let me know i may be able to help further. thank you!

Bakelite antique mantle clock just bought, but no instructions of how to get it going. Ive got the key and pendulum but dont know how to set it up. Can you help?

First you have to wind up your clock using the key supplied. The pendulum suspension spring should start to swing quite fast. Stop it swinging with your fingers and hook up the pendulum. When done, push the pendulum to whatever side and release it to start the swing - the clock should start ticking in normal order. If there is no special bar on the back of clock movement for adjusting hands, then hands must be adjusted from the dial side by moving minute hand clockwise. Move the minute hand with your finger clockwise to the desired time, at the same time do not catch hour hand, as this may end up with the incorrect time displayed. Rate me, plz.

I purchased an old Hamilton mantel clock that did not run. I have cleaned and oiled it and now it works well except it losses five minutes per day. This has a German movement, spring escapement type,...

This clock has a floating balance escapement.

Hold the balance snuggly with 2 figures. Take a small screw driver and push one of the 4 legs above and attached to the disk to the "+" direction. Move it about 1/4 turn. Set the correct time and check again the next day. If the clock is still slow, move it again and set the hands. Do this until the clock is accurate.

Disclaimer: If this movement was made in the 1970 or early 1980's (The date is a 2 digit # above the movement model number). Those years the clock manufac. (Hermle) did not do well in quality materials. The may need an overhaul or movement replacement. I can provide more information if needed.
