The driver for the webcam cann be found on the CD that came with your laptop. use it to load the driver. if you lost the CD, contact your vendor if they have a copy. or you have to visit the ACER website for downloads.

You can down load drivers from Acer support site. There're 2 drivers: Bison and Suyin. Either will work. Just choose the drivers for your operating system and install it. Let me know how you make out.

Do all acer 5516 models come with built-in webcams? is there a website that i can use the serial # to find out if mine did come with a built in webcam? thanks for your help

yes it should come with 10/100 LAN, webcam and yes you can check out the acer website where you will be able to download a driver to get it to work with your operating system. You should also be able to download a manual from the site as well. I am giving you the link to the Acer web where you can navigate to your model and operating system. If you have any problems feel free to contact me. Good Luck.

How do activate the webcam on this acer laptop it says it has one built into it but i cant get to come up

Acer uses its own program called Crystal Eye to run its webcam. If you don't have it, go to Toshiba support drivers and put your model of laptop in the search box and then pick your operating system and it will give you a menu of the available drivers and applications for your system. You need this program to work the integrated webcam.

Webcam sound

Hi. Your computer does have an onboard, built-in microphone and speakers. I do not know what type of operating system you have (please provide that) but if you or anyone did a fresh install of an operating system, the drivers for the Acer machine may not have been installed. If this is the case, you can find the drivers here: http://www.vistaxpdrivers.com/download-acer-aspire-5338-windows-vista-drivers.html

If that is not the problem, it may be that the speakers are simply turned off in "control panel > sounds and audio devices". If you know how to check this, you should. If not, I'll help if you want. See ya.
