Question about Yamaha RX-V861 Receiver

1 Answer

While watching blue ray, the receiver loses the Signal

While watching blue ray movies, the receiver loses the signal many times throughout the movie. The screen goes black. It also happens 1 time with xbox360 every time I play, but not with TV and not when the blue ray was plugged direct to the TV. I plugged the DVD player direct to the TV and it worked for hours without losing the signal.

    DVD player is a Sylvania,
    Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V861
    TV-Mitsubishi 73" DLP

The cables are new Monster cables, their top of the line ones and about 4 months old.

    No sharp bends.

What is weird is when I go from the DVD to the TV it works fine, only through the receiver.

Also with my XBOX 360, it loses the picture for about 20 seconds and that is not through HDMI.

    the cables are good.

They are all new and worked in the beginning.

The receiver is the problem, though I do not know what it is that is wrong with it.

It sounds like the Receiver is losing its HDMI handshake. It could possibly be the HDMI cable you are using from the receiver. Is it 1.3 compliant? Do the cable have any tight bends? What is the Models of the DVD player, Receiver, and TV?

Check the continuity of the AV Cables and check for any loose connection/dry solder in the connectors

The unit may need cleaning. The lamp will shut off if the air flow is blocked by dust.

that sounds strange. your receiver is not that smart to work out the differences between movie and music dvd. more info would be good.

Subwoofer

I'm not familiar with your unit. However, this is normal, since the "sub" is encoded separately in movies. I have a separate sub for my front speakers. Or if you know what you're doing you can redirect the front signal to your sub by using a switcher when you're listening to cds, then switch back to surround when watching movies. But again, you have to be experienced in the principle of A/V configuration.

How do I change the resolution to 1080 on my lg

Hi, having a High Def television myself i recently became aware that you don't i believe " choose " what quality picture " programming " you receive-it's either determined by the network broadcasting the signal or your Blue Ray Player-many stations broadcast different signals at different times-most common is 720p right-then the Blue Ray probably says 1080i @ 24hz-that is a standard movie theatre format-I have yet to determine if that is adjustable myself. At any rate you are stuck viewing whatever your televisions tuner receives or what you receive via a hd cable/satellite provides. I hope this was helpful, Prodzilla.

Blue rays not playing and screen says no signal

This is blue ray lens failure. this optical Assembly has two separate reading lenses. there is one designated for Cd audio and CD_ROM reading and, the other is blue ray compatible. the blue ray lens in inoperable at this point. you will need to replace this lens assembly.

Blue ray wont play movies on new tv

Are you sure the tv is 1080p capable? Usually when "mode is not supported" is displayed, it means that the tv can not handle the signal format that is being input to it. If you are using HDMI, then signal formatting is usually handled automatically. If you are using component video, you will probably have to tell the PS3 to step down the signal to either 1080i or 720p.

DVD movies do not play

A blue screen means the TV is not receiving a video signal. Check all connections, then try another player, cable, etc. Also, check DVD and TV AV settings.
