Question about Panasonic Televison & Video
A panasonic warranty depot.the most common problem was a broken gear that drives the rack on the loading cage.some models had plastic gears and others had metal.i used to replace the plastic ones with metal, because if a tape was inserted slightlyon an angle, the gear would break, because the release pin would not let the loading basket go down.there are timing marks on all the gears and it is very tricky to set the timing on that machine.the best way to do it is to run the unit with the loading basket out of the machine,it will load up around the video head, stop and load back and shut off. unplug the machine, backload the main gear one tooth,as it is under tension, and insert the loading cage and secure it with the two tabs on front, and the 2 screws on the back.the other problem was broken pinch roller assemblies.the gear has an arrow that lines up with the arrow on the main load gear.
