Question about Heating & Cooling

2 Answers

I have a 2001 Lincoln Town car Ex L and the air conditioner doesn't come on for a long time after starting the car. (It comes on anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes of driving). It cools great great after it comes on. After it comes on and I stop for a short time it usually comes right back on but after it is off for a while (longer then 15 minutes) it takes a long time before comming on again. It would seem logical that it might have to do with the a/c thermostat. If anyone know a solution, it would be much appreciated to learn how to repair it. Thanks Jack

A series of 5 beeps for 5 times every 30 miles, is that some kind of notice of trouble

When you first turn the key on, before you start the vehicle, it does a bulb test where it turns all the lights on the cluster to show they work. Check to see if your air bag light (a picture of a person with a bag, maybe says SRS or AIRBAG) comes on. If not, the bulb needs to be replaced. That beep is to let you know the air bag light doesn't work or that there is something wrong with the air bag system.

Air Conditioner will not blow cold air (only slightly cool air) but air compressor is working. What can be wrong? Fan speed works fine.

chances are it needs regasing/presureising,unless you use a/c for about 15 mins a day(on average) a/c gas needs re charging every 4/5 years.

I have a 2001 lincoln and the fan for the heater or air conditioner won't work

you will have to check for a blown fuse or faulty relay. if you go to autozone.com and register and enter your car, you can access info under repair guides. check for info under wiring diagrams. and it is also possible the motor is bad.

I would recommend picking up a Haynes repair manual for your year and make of Lincoln, I have one for my Lincoln and it gives you all the instructions and troubleshooting hints and the estimate time is anywhere from 5-10 hours

2001 town car - air bag compressor

It's located under the air cleaner housing on the drivers side. After removing the housing there is a round plastic cover to remove and it is under that.
