LED flashes 5 times but wont power. You can hear it clicking. Is it safe for me to just replace both the X, and Y boards since im an amatuer? I can get a good used board each and would that fix me up?

A blinking led does point to a bad power supply board! First, Look for some bad caps (capacitors) on the board. They will look bulged on the
top an may be a little leaky (brownish stain).
You should be able to find a service manual @ www.manualzone.com

It was not your power board, Thought the same on several repairs.Found out it was the main board. The clicking was the tuner relay. I bet you own a SP-R4232. If so,The part you need is BN41-00574A. Also might be under BN94-00669A. Hard to find. Try Shop Jimmy/Or Encompass Parts. Not cheep tho. Hope this info helps.
